C&J Energy Services Plans to Lay Off 78 Workers
C&J Energy Services, a Houston-based oilfield equipment supplier, plans to lay off about 78 workers at its facility in Pleasanton, Texas.
In a notice to the Texas Workforce Commission dated Feb. 2, the company stated it anticipated laying off 78 of its full-time employees by April 4, 2016. The layoffs would extend 14 days. According to the notice, though the layoffs are expected to be permanent, the company “hopes to rebuild its work crews whenever orders for services warrant additional staffing.”
C&J Energy Services provides well construction, well completions and well services to the oil and gas industry. The Pleasanton facility, located at 586 County Road 429, offers fracturing and cased-hole solutions, according to the company’s website.
Oil and gas companies have been laying off workers for several months since the price of oil began its sharp decline in late 2014. The downturn is expected to continue through 2016.
