~~SUMMARY Direct activities of workers concerned with construction of fabrication and construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The most important and essential job function of this position is attitude and includes the following: getting along with co-workers, responding politely to vendors, corporate clients, customers of the corporation, third parties, and other members of the community, working as a team member, functioning appropriately under pressure, responding in a positive manner to supervision, and maintaining discretion and inter-office confidentiality. Uses good judgment, and possesses organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Other duties may be assigned.

Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.

Assembles members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and other workers) at start of project.

Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.

Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.

Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.

Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.

Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

Directs workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages 2-5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20-30 employees in the foreman. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. May supervise up to 10 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS Advanced computer skills involving word processing, spreadsheets, data base management, and proper use of electronic mail services are required.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSEES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Louisiana driver's license and reliable transportation may be requirement of this job.
