DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:     

Mechanical design of electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic equipment used in down hole and related surface instrumentation including:

 •Pressure housings and seals (static and dynamic)

•Mechanisms (actuators, motors, ball screws, linkages)

•Micro-hydraulics

•Structural / load bearing

•Electronics packaging

•Designing for extreme environments: Pressure, Temperature, compression, tension, shock and vibration

•Materials selection for downhole environment

•Composites (rubber, fiberglass, etc.) for downhole use

•Testing and qualification

•Familiar with design for reliability, maintainability, and manufacturability

Creation of 3D component models and assemblies and complete manufacturing drawings.

Perform necessary stress, shock and vibration, and thermal analyses.

Provide existing product support in design activities and/or modification of hardware in production and field use.

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3 years R&D experience with practical hands on experience in test lab environment

Proficiency in using 3D solid modelling software.

Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office suite programs.

Good written English (for report writing).

Excellent communication skills.

Willingness to work in the test lab and occasional field environments.

Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Preferred:

5 to 10 years R&D experience with practical hands on experience in test lab environment

Experience in structural, thermal, fluid dynamics FEA analysis

Design and development experience with downhole tools

Proficiency in using Creo (Pro-Engineer)

Proficiency in using Windchill/PDM system

Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering
