JOB DESCRIPTION

Highly specialized and skilled management position in the technical and operational aspects of cased hole completion applications and installations. Technical evaluation of new and existing products and all procedures related to the application, installation & implementation of those products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage an Applications Engineers for US Land Completions, positioned across the US in various engineering and quality functions . Ensure a fully professional exercise of engineering judgement by the Applications Engineer team including, but not limited to,

review of specific casing designs.

generation of tube movement/packer force analyses.

torque and drag calculations.

pressure prediction and flow characteristic calculations.

selection of integrated tool suites of Completions & Liners products for particular applications.

compilation of operational run procedures, contingency reviews, recommended practices, incident investigations etc.

implement and execute a strict peer review and approval process of all documentation generated by Technical Services and Area Tech Teams.

screen new product improvement proposals submitted from Area locations and submit to the Completions Global Business Unit in Houston.

screen product improvement proposals submitted from Area locations and submit to the Region Engineering Unit in Powell, WY.  Monitor and review such projects through to completion or abandonment.

implement continued staff training and employee development of all members of the Technical Services and Area Tech Teams.

Ensure full Completions & Liners Applications Engineering support for US Sales in Houston, and in Areas/Regions as required.

 

 

Ensure Completions Applications Engineering support for the Completions Global Business Unit in Houston as required.

Provide systematic communication with the Product Line Managers in the Completions GBU, and with the Completions Global and US Training Managers.

Ensure the timely provision of qualified training instructors for the Completions Global Training Unit in Houston as required for Unconventional Completions - specifically for multi-stage frac (MSF) applications.

Assist the Completions Global Business Unit in the creation of relevant training course material as required for Unconventional Completions - specifically for MSF applications.

Provide practical Applications support for Completion Design Engineering in Houston as required.

Manage Area Technical Team Managers (currently five) for US Land Completions & Liners in distributed Areas in accordance with the overall strategy of the Director - US Land Completions & Liner Systems and in close cooperation with the Area Operations Managers.

Co-manage the two year program for the Completions Field Engineer Graduate Trainees, in cooperation with the US Land Training & Competency Manager - US Land Completions & Liners.

Cooperate and coordinate with other Weatherford Product and Service lines for the integrated provision of multiple services to customers to mutual advantage.

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of same.

Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Be proactive in seeking out and communicating potential improvements to Weatherford products and processes.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by Management within the physical constraints of the job.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Superior written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work well with all levels of personnel.

Good computer skills.

Extensive knowledge of completion and applications.

Proven innovation ability.

Proven leadership ability and capacity to make effective, reliable and appropriate decisions and judgements with minimal supervision or assistance.

Demonstrated attention to administrative requirements.

Willingness to travel.

Engineering degree to Bachelor's level.

At least 5 years of direct relevant field experience - application & installation of completions and liner equipment.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Preferred:

Prior management experience.

Master's degree in Business or Engineering
