Junior mechanical engineer responsible for engineering and sustaining commercial products for Weatherford Intnl's Rotary Steerable group. This is accomplished by solving technical challenges of mechanical design and manufacturing. These designs will be heavily based on prior field experience and in-house test results generated by the engineer. All tool design requires documentation needed for final production of drilling tools including initial vendor selection. The Rotary Steerable group includes many areas of measurement while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD) services, providing a system of electro-mechanical tools to drill well bores under the harshest operating conditions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to complete all engineering tasks and testing that meet established requirements
Responsible for improving existing commercial products that fail to meet current requirements.
Responsible for establishing wear limits of commercial products
Manage all testing required to complete the commercialization of design changes.
Manage technicians, designers, and technical writers to complete mechanical tasks safely
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with 1 years industry experience
Experience with computer-aided design tools
Experience working with vendors that supply precision machined parts
Ability to define and conduct test plans to fully demonstrate product functionality meets all established requirements.
B.S. in Engineering
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
Experience with AutoDesk Inventor
Experience with downhole drilling equipment LWD, MWD, or well steering tools
Ability to research any relevant information for purposes of product improvements
1+ year of oilfield experience
Thorough understanding of drilling rig operating practices and standards.
