The Category Manager for International Logistics Services is responsible for performing and supporting assignments related to the strategic sourcing of international freight (air, ocean, courier and small parcels), customs brokerage and related logistics services, managing an annual spend of over $60M. Major activities include sourcing, selecting, negotiating, contracting and managing the approved logistics suppliers.

Understand, recommend, and support the implementation of all new and revised streamlined policies and processes to continuously improve the planning and materials management function across Weatherford.

Oversee and negotiate contract agreements in alignment with global initiatives to drive the best value and service, while ensuring business continuity, while adhering to compliance and regulatory policies.

Understands the financial impact of the sub-category cost can have on the performance of the enterprise

Develop sub-category cost improvement strategies and cost reduction models for specific product line.

Counsels key stakeholders and team members as required on financial impact

Perform spend analysis to establish a detailed view of the current spend segmentation for assigned sub-categories.

Implement and provide guidance and support to the global, region, and country purchasing and sourcing organizations and the global category management team to ensure all category management strategies and sourcing plans are adopted, operationalized, and delivering expected value.

Exhibit and deliver deep expertise within the category area, with an intimate knowledge of the supply market, key dynamics and latest thinking within the field. Have a clear view of supply market analysis and segmentation as well as developing and driving category strategy and implementation plan, taking in account optimum purchasing channels and contracting

Develop and implement sourcing plans with established milestones and anticipated completion dates in collaboration with Category Management.

Lead, manage/execute, and facilitate diverse sourcing initiatives in the regions.

Prepares bid events, qualify, approves and selects new logistics suppliers, negotiates, develops and manages contracts with logistics suppliers

Communicates timely, clear and concise information and recommendations to Logistics & Distribution and Procurement & Sourcing leadership.

Following award decision from Leadership, support detailed quantification and documentation of savings and other results of sourcing projects/initiatives.

Partner with applicable stakeholders to develop solutions that will secure capacity for critical disciplines or product lines.

Establish, manage and maintain a strong and consistent supplier pipeline through strategic alliances, while ensuring appropriate mechanisms are in place to assess supplier quality and capability.

Develop balanced supplier score cards and report on key supplier performance metrics, conduct benchmarking studies and track contract utilization, service delivery, and service level agreement.

Develop relationship management strategies by which suppliers are evaluated, selected and managed in accordance with established guidelines and best practices.

Maintains the relationship with the established logistics suppliers

Responsible for producing reports to measure results against strategies and goals.

Collaborate with the regions to establish key performance indicators, set performance targets, and document total cost of ownership.

Educate the Geo-zones and product lines on global procurement standards and how to adopt into their environment

Conduct risk analysis associated with the development and deployment of outlined multi-year strategies.

Ensure key stakeholders are fully engaged and buy-into the suppliers engagement strategy.

Establish process methodologies for documenting and archiving business requirements that the Geo-zone teams can execute on.

Identify, coach and mentor junior category managers, sourcing leads and operational leaders as part of an overall talent management effort to recruit, retain, and engage top talent

Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment to achieve a common goal

Minimum BA/BS degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline

10+ years of relevant work experience in Strategic Sourcing for International Transportation & Logistics (Ocean, Air, 3PL, small parcel)

Minimum 5+ years of experience working in a complex supply chain organization

Knowledge of negotiations, RFx sourcing processes, contract development and ability to develop/draft complete pro forma contract terms & conditions.

Track record of 5+ years with exceptional savings performance and delivery, comprising a mix of operations and supply chain management skills

Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

Strong communication, analytical, collaboration and change management skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

Knowledge of enabling technologies such as ERP, Risk, Spend Analytics, and eSourcing a plus


APICS certification and knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and/or other Supply Chain Planning or Continuous Improvement methodologies. JDE/Oracle experience a plus

Master's degree in Business or Supply Chain
