Job Summary

Anadarko seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Financial Accounting team located in Anadarko's headquarters in The Woodlands, TX. This position will perform activities in a variety of corporate accounting functions, such as the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements for SEC reporting, governmental filings and other external or internal reporting, pension accounting and reporting and the accounting for entity reorganizations and other special projects and analysis as requested.


The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of experience to include general corporate accounting experience; including the preparation of consolidated financial statements. Public accounting and pension experience a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and professional curiosity that supports a continuous learning culture

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of US GAAP and understanding of financial statement mechanics

  • Demonstrates high level of initiative with commitment to focus on and implement process improvements

  • Highly organized, multi-tasking skills, action-oriented, positive attitude, and flexibility to work some weekend and overtime hours during close periods

  • An expert on the job, makes the most of knowledge and experience and works to learn new duties; transfer knowledge to others, and adapts to changed conditions quickly and easily


  • Analyze consolidated financial statements

  • Prepare and analyze sub-consolidated financial statements and other reporting as required

  • Review and coordinate the timely and accurate filing of quarterly and annual government survey reports

  • Assist in the maintenance of the integrity of the master data hierarchies for company codes

  • Participate in adhoc special projects and analysis at the request of management

  • Identify and implement process improvements

  • Research advanced accounting issues, identify possible solutions, and summarize conclusions to present to management

  • Assist in month-end closing process, including preparing and reviewing recurring journal entries.

  • Prepare or review account reconciliations

  • Prepare or review journal entries to record intercompany activities, including equity earnings of subsidiaries and entity reorganizations


Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.


CPA is strongly preferred.


The position is not eligible for relocation.

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0%.

Work Schedule

This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
