The Joint Venture Accountant is responsible for financial closing including account posting, payment of billingsand month on month variance analysis.
This position will also provide support to the Expl, POA & EIS Business Analyst to deliver key driver and trend analysis, updates and administer detailed budgets/forecasts to incumbent budget holder(s).

Accountabilities and End Results:

Facilitate through acquisition and preparation of accruals, billings and reconciliations the accurate monthly financial closing.
Ensure adequate process for delivery of consistent and timely reporting and analysis against prior month to deliver realistic assessment of financial performance.
Ensure adequate process for delivery of consistent and timely cost reporting and analysis against budgeted cost plans to support BU leadership requirements to develop and plan operational activities within overall budgets/forecasts.
Provide data inputs and analysis to facilitate primary financial forecasts and long-term plan (LRP).
Support Finance corporate reporting in the development of regular corporate reports.
Support and facilitate response to Local Government/Partner reporting requirements.
Provide ad-hoc facilitation/support for other corporate finance requirements as appropriate.

Primary Functions:

Month End:
Accounting focal point for assets in the OU including monthly posting of accruals and reconciliations of accounts
Monthly billing review of partner operated assets and review 3rd party invoices
Ensure compliance with accounting policy and SOX controls
Interface with client accounting policy to align appropriate cost classification (eg Opex vs Capex)
Prepare monthly cost reviews (actuals vs budget) with incumbent budget holders.
Provide ad-hoc cost analysis and management presentations as appropriate.

Corporate Financial Reporting:
Support detailed analysis and development of regular corporate reports (Month end, Qtr end, Yr End)
Provide support and follow up on JV partner audits in liaison with audit co-ordinator

Collate/administer detailed actuals/budget/forecast information and phasing for review/approval for LRP input, primary forecasts and rolling forecast updates
Provide variance analysis for budgets and LRP input (eg prior year vs current year plan)
Support LRP business assumptions review cycles and quality checks

Critical Skills:

Qualified / part-qualified accountant, MBA, or significant experience in a similar role.
Thorough knowledge of management cost accounting practices and systems (SAP R3 FI, MM,
Good working knowledge of MS Office programs, particularly MS Windows Excel and PowerPoint
Intellectual curiosity and drive to deliver genuine insight for the business through drawing on superior business knowledge and data analysis from various sources
Knowledge of UK operating unit operations and joint venture arrangements
Sound knowledge of budgeting & forecasting
Experienced analytical skills for reporting and ability to manage data volume, interpreting and
analysing trends
Good business understanding
