Job Description

As an Instrumentation/Electrical Technician, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Troubleshooting and making field repairs to safety shutdown systems
• Troubleshooting and correcting ladder logic
• Troubleshooting and repairing PLC control interfaces
• Troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, tuning and aligning controllers
• Troubleshooting, calibrating and making field repairs to control valves
• Troubleshooting, calibrating and making field repairs to positioners
• Troubleshooting, calibrating and making field repairs to actuators
• Troubleshooting and repairing level measurement equipment
• Troubleshooting transducers
• Troubleshooting and repairing vibration measurement instrumentation
• Understanding of proper application of pressure rated piping/tubing fittings
• Troubleshooting, calibrating, configuring and repairing electronic transmitters
• Troubleshooting, calibrating, configuring and repairing DCS systems
• Overhauling, repairing and calibrating displacer level controls
• Using pressure test equipment
• Troubleshooting, calibrating and repairing pressure switches
• Troubleshooting, calibrating and repairing regulators
• Troubleshoot, calibrate and repairing Analyzer systems
• Troubleshooting and repairing 240V, 480V and 4160V equipment
Requirements:
• Troubleshooting and repairing power generation and distribution equipment
• Test, troubleshoot and repair AC variable frequency motor drives
• Install, troubleshoot and repair DC battery banks and battery chargers
• Troubleshoot and repair phased and DC electric motors
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical switch­gear equipment

Requirements

Prefer at least a minimum of 3 years experience as an Instrumentation Electrical Technician ­OR ­military experience ­ OR ­an educational background in instrumentation/electrical maintenance
  • Must have prior experience in instrumentation/electrical field in an industrial, manufacturing or military work environment
  • Must be able to successfully demonstrate proficiency in calibrating miscellaneous equipment during interview process
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa
  • Must be at least 18 year of age
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently and understand operating procedures
  • Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
  • Willing to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation
  • Willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation
  • Able to work while wearing a respirator or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
  • To respond to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 90 minutes of the site, or be willing to relocate to within 90 minutes of the site without relocation assistance
  • Normal work schedules are 9/80 (80 hours in 9 days, Mon-­Fri). However, for turnarounds and call-­outs, candidates must be willing to work at least 12 consecutive hours each day, up to 9 consecutive days
  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Willing to be on call and meet call-­out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
  • Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
  • As a part of the pre­employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre­employment background, drug, medical, and reference checks, including hair drug testing
  • Willing to support the company's drug­ free work environment, which will include random drug screenings

  • Willing to support and comply with the company's safety policies and initiatives

  • Willingness to travel proximate to site without reimbursement and achieve satisfactory results on Shell's pre-employment testing batteries
