In order to apply for this position, applicants MUST meet the following criteria. If your resume
does not match these criteria, you will not be able to apply for this position.
Bring us your knowledge of UK indirect tax and we'll give you a chance to engage with some key figures - our senior stakeholders - as well as guiding other Advisors and Finance Operations colleagues
What's the role?
On a day-to-day basis, your role will be to undertake indirect tax advice, shaping, structuring and support for Shell functions operating in the UK & Ireland. Through well-aligned end-to-end process designs, you'll help ensure fiscal compliance and effective risk management through effective decision making, as well as optimising VAT-related cashflows.
On wider level, you can look forward to a role that will really stretch your people skills. You'll be engaging with senior figures across the business and cultivating a real spirit of partnership between on-shore advisors and finance operations teams. You'll also represent Shell externally on Indirect Tax matters and share your skills to bring out the best in other team members.

Since then we have grown into a leading innovative oil and gas company that rewards its employees by investing heavily in their careers and learning. Our people are our greatest asset, and our commitment to your career will see you thrive in a work environment that offers an industry-leading development programme. When your ideas travel, Shell will benefit and innovation will thrive. Shell has a key role to play in helping meet the UK's growing energy demand, whilst using innovative technologies to develop cleaner energy. We are the largest FTSE 100 company in the UK by market capitalisation, and make a significant contribution to the UK economy. As well as processing 35% of the gas coming into the UK, we serve more than four million customers at our filling stations each week. Shell employs some 6,400 skilled staff as well as many contractors.
What we need from you
We're open minded about where you've gained your experience; perhaps working with another multinational, or with a professional firm. What we'll value most is your in-depth knowledge of UK VAT law including an understanding of UK customs and excise rules. You've shown you can manage VAT risks, balancing risk with business objectives to make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate and supportive of business goals.
As for your personal skills: we're keen to hear from men and women who've demonstrated imagination and creativity in the way they evaluate issues and develop possible solutions. You've reached the point in your career where you're confident enough in your own skills to support, advise and nurture junior staff.
