Our client, a large Operator company, is currently seeking a Construction Director for a long term contract role. The role will be based in Calgary and then transition to site in 2020. Develop and maintain Project organization structureDefine the appropriate team structure for the stage of the projectEnsure all positions are staffed with competent and experienced individualsEnsure Roles and Responsibilities are well defined and communicatedEnsure strong team integration and alignmentEnsure the project has clear Scope, Objectives and GoalsLead the development of annual project goalsEnsure the project goals are well aligned with the client ObjectivesBroadly communicate monthly goals status to all stakeholdersLead the development of intervention plan as appropriate to meet goalsEnsure the Project team has enough resources to be successful; Money, People & ToolsEnsure appropriate budget is available to achieve project team goalsReview monthly cost report, monitor against budget and take appropriate actionsMaintain appropriate organization in place to achieve goalsLead communication with external stakeholdersIdentify external stakeholders and develop appropriate communication planProvide weekly update to Project SponsorsAttend Project Steering Committee to provide project updatePromote project with vendors and contractorsCommunicate information and approval to Project team in a timely mannerLead the Project Leadership weekly meetingAttend weekly project communication meetingEnsure an active Project HSE program is in placeEnsure issues & concerns are resolved in a timely mannerTake a lead role in resolving conflictsPromote a "No Change" mentality and ensure only "Unsafe or Won't Work" changes are implementedProvide timely support for Management of ChangeWon't work means that it would not meet the project goalsDevelop economic criteria to evaluate other potential changes which should be consideredSupport Project Activities (Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Process Automation, Commissioning & start-up, Contract Administration)Provide prompt review and approval as neededAttend FEED contractor weekly meetingDelegate Authority as neededWork with human Resources to ensure people are treated fairlyEnsure appropriate HR policies are in place and implementedEnsure people are properly recognizedEnsure each team member has a development plan in place to acquire news skills and knowledgeProvide coaching to people for their current roleProvide prompt feedback on performance.Qualifications
The Program Construction Director is accountable for overall project delivery including scope development, cost estimates, planning and scheduling, cost control, regulatory approval, HSE, and project execution including detail design, procurement and construction.
-15+ years mega project experience, preferably an engineering educational background coupled with certifications ie: project management, leadership, lean methodology, etc.
- Owner and EPC project experience
- Petrochemical experience is preferred
