What's the role?

You'll be based in the Shell Ethics and Compliance Office (SECO), part of our global data privacy legal team. Here, you'll apply your broad knowledge of applicable and emerging data privacy laws and regulations to advise a diverse group of stakeholders on a range of privacy issues, including privacy-by-design programs and compliance with international privacy laws.

When you're not liaising with colleagues across the business, you'll also be drafting and negotiating complex agreements related to the collection, use and transfer of personal data. It's vital that you can think strategically: we'll trust you to weigh up the immediate and longer term impacts on the business of different legal courses of action and quickly identify risks.

Requirements

What we need from you

We're keen to hear from men and women with experience in advising on a wealth of data privacy matters including, analytics, information security standards, incident response management and data governance. Technically, you'll need as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • Accomplished legal research skills
  • Well versed with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other global privacy laws in Asia and America.
  • A combination of in-house and private practice experience.
  • Knowledge of international privacy laws and consumer privacy laws.
  • Ideally, experience of supporting global projects.


It's your personal skills that will make the difference. If you're a confident communicator (on paper and in person) who enjoys sharing knowledge andworking collaboratively, you'll be in your element here. In particular, we're looking for strong influencing skills; you're comfortable working with senior stakeholders and overcoming resistance.
