Job Summary

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation is currently searching for a ServiceNow Technical Architect to provide technical skill and leadership to help exploit the capability ServiceNow provides to enable our business. This position is located at Anadarko's corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.


  • 5+ years of technical experience in the implementation, administration, maintenance and enhancements of the ServiceNow platform including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management/CMDB, Service Catalog, Asset Management, Mobile, Service Portal, Reporting, and Knowledge Management, 8 years or more is preferred.

  • Experience with integration of ServiceNow with HP uCMDB

  • Experience with managing discovery and service mapping capabilities

  • Experience architecting and designing implementations with the ServiceNow ITSM platform that enable the business while minimizing customization

  • Hands-on experience with one or more full implementations of ServiceNow IT Service Management, IT Asset Management, and IT Operations Management

  • Extensive experience developing ServiceNow APIs, ServiceNow Workflows, UI Pages, UI Macros, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Scripts, UI Actions, UI Policies, Script Includes, Security Rules, and scoped application development

  • Experience developing for the ServiceNow Platform using JavaScript, CSS, HTML, XML, JavaScript, Web Services, Angular JS, Ajax, etc.

  • Deep understanding of Integration methods and capabilities (REST, SOAP, JDBC, JSON, XML, scheduled imports, etc.)

  • Experience in waterfall and agile/scrum methodologies is required, including providing input on stories and acceptance criteria

  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles and practices

  • Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills

  • High energy and an aptitude for learning new technologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to "think big" and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology

  • Strongly desire real-world experience with Flow Designer, Agile Development, Automated Test Framework, and Service Portal/Mobile


  • Serve as a member of the ServiceNow platform support team as the technical subject matter expert

  • Coordinate development and integration efforts with product owner and administrators

  • Provide technical stewardship and play a key role in the transformation of IT Service Management platform while supporting current state

  • Lead requirements and design workshops, and lead technical aspects of ServiceNow projects

  • Engage in day-to-day operational support and continuous capability improvement

  • Collaborate with business process owners (IT and non-IT) to design, develop, test and implement ServiceNow solutions

  • Lead all upgrade efforts of the platform, including reviewing skipped updates, regression testing core functionality, new feature releases, etc.

  • Manage the back-office aspects of the platform, including plugins, update sets, cloning, archiving, system properties, cross-scope access, transform maps, etc.

  • Stay current on new releases and make recommendations to the product owner regarding new/updated functionality

  • Engage in on-call support as needed with ServiceNow and third-party providers

  • Maintain adequate operational documentation and reporting. Set and maintain technical best practices

  • Actively seek continuous improvement by replacing custom functionality with out-of-box functionality, promoting new capability, suggesting project opportunities, reducing technical debt, etc.

  • Assist with maintaining data integrity over time- master data, CI data, knowledge, stale records


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is highly preferred


This position is not eligible for relocation.

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-10%

Work Schedule

This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
