To support our operations in Australia we are currently looking for a qualified Tourpusher residing in Australia to join our Schlumberger Land Rigs team for a contract up to 12 months.

The Tourpusher is primarily responsible for operating the drilling and hoisting equipment, and managing the rig floor and driller's console which includes brakes, throttles, clutches and various gauges. Other responsibilities include monitoring and recording the progress of the drilling operation and communicating this to the rig manager. The Tourpusher also assumes the responsibility for the Rig Manager while they are off duty, including compliance with safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Reside in Australia and have the full right to live and work in Australia.
  • At least 10 years experience on drilling rigs
  • At least 5 years experience as Tourpusher or higher positions
  • Cyber rig/chair experience
  • Proven experience with ATD/ATS400 rigs with Omron Rig Power & Control Systems
  • Must have a well-developed knowledge of all rig positions that lead to Tourpusher
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • The ability to work long hours and in extreme conditions
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Able to follow directions and company policies
  • Strong leadership skills are required
  • Must have good training skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Valid open and manual full driver's licence
  • Must be a team player, good communicator, have sound safety appreciation, time management and competent computer skills


MUST have valid certifications:

 

  • Clean National Police Clearance Record (less than 1 month old)
  • Industry Safety Induction (formally DCGI)
  • IWCF Level 4 (supervisor)
  • Diploma of Drilling Oil/Gas (on shore)
  • Drilling and Completions General Induction (DCGI)
  • Undertake First Response to Fire
  • Operate Breathing Apparatus
  • First Aid (including CPR)
  • Enter and Work in Confined Space
  • Wellsite Permit to Work (Authority and Holder)
  • Working at Heights
  • Operate vehicles in the field (4WD)
  • Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • Awareness of Chain of Responsibility Regulations
  • Fatigue Management Strategies
  • Load/Unload goods/cargo


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

 

 

  • Supervise and monitor the day to day activities of the drilling crew which includes making sure they are motivated, working safely, and completing task in a timely manner
  • When required, act as the Site Safety Manager with specific responsibilities for procedures, training, First Aid and Emergency Response as stipulated by the relevant legislation
  • Management and reporting of all incidents in accordance with SLR policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that all employees wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Keep a daily log on the daily well history that includes drilling rate, any problems encountered and downtime etc
  • Maintain all company paperwork in a neat, timely and orderly fashion.
  • Ensure that all company equipment is being operated for intended purposes and report any equipment abuse to Rig Manager
  • Training of all the crew members
  • Maintain good safety practices and housekeeping
  • Inspect drilling rig and ensure that it meets compliance with all regulatory body standards
  • Operate drilling rig with safe well control practices in mind
  • Update the Rig Manager on any unusual occurrence or changes in the hole condition that could affect productivity or compromise the crews safety
  • Participate in any test to the equipment that is required throughout the drilling process
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and Government safety regulations pertaining to the worksite
  • Participate and help oversee rig out and rig up activities
  • Oversee the efficiency of the drilling crew
  • Organize and prepare next step of operation
  • Correct unacceptable performance or conduct of crew members using SLRs disciplinary procedures
  • Ensure that all employees wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Conducting and supervising regular safety meetings
  • Complete Blow-Out Prevention (BOP) drills, equipment checks (crown saver, motor kills, etc.) as prescribed by Company policy
  • Chairing safety drills on a regular basis and revisiting the drills as crews change out
  • Correct unacceptable performance or conduct of crew members using SLRs disciplinary procedures
  • Be involved in, the identifying of safe and suitable duties for injured workers. To be involved in, the development, progress and return to work of injured workers, whilst complying with all aspects of privacy and confidentiality
  • Injured workers will be managed in a fair and equitable manner having regard to their cultural and linguistic ability and level of literacy
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons; 12 hours a day, for extended periods. Vigorous manual labour required
