Job Description

Shell Trading & Supply is a fully integrated business designed to create and capture end to end value for Downstream with a global portfolio covering global crude trading & supply, products trading & supply, natural gas, power, emissions and LNG.

As a Senior Due Diligence Analyst, you will be responsible for researching the required information on counterparties to perform a risk assessment and make a recommendation on their suitability to do business with Shell Trading & Supply. Your research will focus on the counterparties geographical presence, industry, products traded, political status, and reputation.

You will need to:

Undertake Standard, Enhanced and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) customer due diligence to make recommendations on the suitability of business relationships

Liaise with external counterparties to collate required company information/documentation

Analyse and verify evidence collated during the customer due diligence process to ensure authenticity

Be familiar with the various types of legal formations, e.g. corporations, limited companies, partnerships, trusts, charities.

Undertake a detailed and articulate risk assessment, with particular attention to analysis of findings, identification of red flags and risk mitigation. This must be demonstrated during the interview.

Good stakeholder management with commercial and functional business partners to enhance their understanding of the financial crime on-boarding requirements to raise the profile of the financial crime team and ensure the smooth on-boarding of new and existing customers.

Demonstrate understanding of beneficial ownership and control within the company structure and impact on the risk assessment of the counterparty.
Develop an understanding of the Trading & Supply financial crime systems and controls including a working knowledge of the Compliance, Financial Crime and ABC manuals.

Prepare customer due diligence files and ensure all internal and regulatory records management standards are adhered to.

Provide support to the compliance deal team lead on special projects and new initiatives

Demonstrate an understanding of GDPR regulations, its relation to the Customer Due Diligence process and potential impact for an organisation like Shell.
Escalate matters requiring investigations appropriately

Support Due Diligence Analysts in the absence of the London Financial Crime Lead

Requirements

Bachelors Degree with at least 4 years of working experience in KYC/AML areasCertifications in AML such as Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or International Association Diploma in Anti Money Laundering would be advantageous

Experience acquired in Tier 1 Financial Institutions (Wholesale, Commercial/Corporate, Investment Banking) and/or large Commodities or Trading Houses (Oil, Energy) would be highly valuable
Ability to articulate information relation to the CDD process to stakeholders as all levels of the organisation.
Understanding of regional risks and mitigations appropriate to ensure Compliance with the Trading & Supply financial crime systems and controls.
Working knowledge of corporate structures and understanding of complex entity structures including SPVs, Trusts, Funds including identification of ultimate beneficial owners

Understanding the risks of dealing with Politically Exposed Persons

Ability to analyse, evaluate and mitigate the financial crime risks of the customer to provide a recommendation for on-boarding.

Ability to analyse substantial amounts of data and identify red flags and other areas of concern.
Fluent in Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese or Mandarin would be advantageous.
Exhibit resilience at work. Be able to meet tight deadlines often under pressure.
Self starter: work independently demonstrating personal drive and own initiative.

Ability to prioritize your workload with shifting demands and priorities in a fast paced commercial environment.
