Tasks and Responsibilities of the Deck E&M Supervisor include (but are not limited to):

  • Organize the execution of vessel Back Deck and project equipment maintenance, repairs, upgrades, installations, removals, and modification
  • Assist the Offshore Construction Manager in ensuring that the offshore operations are carried out in an organized and controlled manner, conforming to the company QHS&E requirements
  • Utilize NS5 computer based preventative maintenance and procurement system to track, remind, and record preventative maintenance on the vessel's back deck equipment and to procure back deck items.
  • Regularly communicate with the Vessel Technical Manager to ensure ongoing efficient operations
  • Reviewing the manner in which equipment is being operated and reporting any activities which may subject the equipment to damage or create unsafe conditions.
  • Ensuring relevant equipment-related matters are brought to the attention of the onshore Vessel Technical Manager, including Company technical documentation requiring to be updated, i.e. Operation and Maintenance Manuals, Drawings, Circuit Diagrams, etc.
  • Ensuring relevant equipment records are maintained and electronic copies are kept onboard and passed on to the technician team.
  • Monitoring the usage of relevant spares and consumables required to facilitate repair and maintenance activities. Advising Vessel Technical Manager of spares required, in order to maintain stock level.
  • Immediately reporting any equipment failure to the OCM, making aware that suspension of operations may be required.
  • Advising the OCM of the anticipated duration of repairs required and the operational constraints on continuing activities with faulty equipment.
  • Maintaining the Equipment Shift Log to enable an adequate handover to the oncoming Deck Engineer
  • Assisting in commissioning, testing and monitoring of appropriate equipment as required
  • Ensuring that Equipment Technicians wear the appropriate PPE and safety equipment in performance of their duties
  • Ensure that Company Health, Safety, Drugs and Alcohol policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure applicable Company and Third Party equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Ensure project equipment operations are performed as directed by the OCM and Vessel Technical Manager.
  • Ensure equipment reporting is performed accurately, expediently and efficiently in accordance with Company procedures.




  • Extended knowledge in Marine and Subsea construction operations with at least 10+ years' experience in a similar role working with Electro and Hydraulic systems. Must be familiar with offshore deck machinery.
  • High school graduate
  • In possession of relevant trade certificate (Electrical/Mechanical/Subsea)
  • Fully trained in basic operations of Flexible Lay Systems (7000 ton carousel)
  • Training in NOV and Hydra Marine Cranes, as well as SAS Tensioners
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams with strong leadership skills
  • Valid Offshore Medical
  • BOSIET Training or Equivalent (OPITO approved)
  • Fluent both in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of DP Vessel operations
