On behalf of notable Offshore client, OSM is actively seeking Mechanical Technician with experience in operating lay equipment.


Tasks and Responsibilities of the Lay System Technician include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist and support the Lay System Superintendent and Shift Supervisors
  • Conform to company QHSE&S policies and procedures
  • Carry out maintenance and operational tasks on Company equipment as instructed by the Lay System Shift
  • Supervisor and as required by Company and manufacturers' procedures and manuals.
  • Conduct relevant equipment function checks against relevant standard checklists.
  • Undertake relevant repair and servicing requirements, and record any faults and applied repairs on the Equipment Fault/Repair Reports.
  • Immediately notify the Lay System Shift Supervisor of any failure or suspected future failure of equipment item and/or sensor unit.
  • Operate the lay system and associated components
  • Complete Company documentation as described in the Quality and Safety System requirements.
  • Carry out tasks as directed by management within the capabilities and competency of the incumbent.
  • Carry out any other tasks as directed by the Lay System Shift Supervisor
  • Operate and maintain equipment as directed by the Lay System Shift Supervisor or Offshore Construction Manager



  • Minimum 5 years ' experience working in the offshore construction industry
  • Knowledge of Marine and Subsea operations with experience in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems (tension machines, gearboxes, drive chains, high load roller systems)
  • High school graduate
  • Experience operating flexible or rigid lay systems or similar equipment
  • In possession of relevant trade certificate (Mechanical/Subsea)
  • High school graduate
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid Offshore Medical
  • BOSIET Training or Equivalent (OPITO standard)
  • Fluent both in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of DP Vessel operations
