Chevron Energy Technology Company’s Reservoir and Production Engineering Department is seeking a candidate to join our high-performing and diverse Numerical Geomechanics group. 
The key job responsibilities include:

  • Develop & execute Technical Services and R&D projects centered around 3D & 4D Mechanical Earth Models (MEM) and associated numerical geomechanics
  • Work closely with groups across Chevron to provide tools, workflows and solutions to support safe operations, reduce well cost and/or improve development plans and well production
  • Collaborate with internal and external research organizations across the numerical geomechanics spectrum


Required Qualifications:

  • Finite element analysis (FEA) experience is a prerequisite, especially in the use of software tools to conduct FEA-MEM projects (build, solve, analyze and report)
  • Fundamental Geomechanical knowledge, including of the theories of wellbore stability, sanding, fracturing and pore pressure prediction
  • A strong earth science background, with multi-scale Reservoir geomechanics experience, comfortable at regional and field scale, down to well and completion scale
  • Broad knowledge of Petroleum (reservoir) engineering and drilling and completion practices preferred
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, and one who can effectively work in a team environment
  • Numerical coding skills are beneficial
  • Ph.D preferred in related fields (i.e., Geomechanics, Engineering or Earth Science)
  • Minimum of 5 years of related industry or research experience
  • Relocation is provided under Chevron policy.
