Chevron Global Downstream Refining is accepting online applications for the position of Analyzer Engineer located in El Segundo, CA through September 14, 2018 .

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Analyzer Engineer will be a member of the Refinery team, providing analyzer designs and reliability support. The individual is responsible for investigation, analysis, and development of resolutions for opportunities involving equipment or facilities. The individual will also provide direct technical support for daily operations, turnaround events, and projects.

Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• Provide analyzer designs support for routine daily operation of process units
• Specify, purchase, install, commission and troubleshoot analyzers & sample conditioning systems
• Design & application of environmental and process control analyzer systems
• Read, understand & develop drawings including P&IDs, schematics and connection diagrams
• Develop design standards, procedures and training materials
• Evaluate and select suppliers for specific analyzer applications
• Communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups and facilitate meetings of cross-functional teams
• Teach/mentor others
• Use Microsoft Office programs to efficiently & effectively convey information
• Use engineering software to monitor analyzer performance
• Perform design calculations as required
• Lead and manage overall design and construction of projects including management of project team to best utilize resources
• Use estimating tools and cost control measures to budget and monitor approved funds
• Assemble work packages to ensure safe execution of construction work
• Monitor projects and workloads to meet deadlines and schedules
• Prepare analyzer work scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation
• Troubleshoot analyzer problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long-term reliability
• Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, and develop design procedures and provide training
• Provide design analysis and evaluation of analyzer portion of major capital projects
• Document and manage information related to analyzer systems and equipment
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, and Building codes as required by Federal, State, Local, and Refinery regulations

Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of analyzer engineering experience

• A solid understanding of refinery/ chemical processes & equipment and the interaction between refinery units

• Strong knowledge of process analyzers, including their application, design, communication protocols and wiring methods

• Familiarity with process safety information, management of change work process, engineering work orders, turnaround planning, and working knowledge of plant design issues.

This is a safety sensitive position

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering related discipline is preferred

• Experience with turnaround planning and capital project work

• Experience with instrument design database software

3. Project Management
  • Handle multiple activities simultaneously. Balance day-to-day support issues with longer term projects.
  • Set priorities & execute work with minimal direct supervision
  • Lead & manage overall design & construction of projects
  • Use estimating tools & cost control measures to budget & monitor approved funds. Assemble work packages to ensure safe execution of construction work.


4. Team work
  • Interface effectively with Operators, Mechanics, Vendors, Contractors, Management & other groups to meet business objectives.
  • Foster cooperation & collaboration among individuals in a work group. Help teams resolve conflicts constructively
