RINA is seeking an experienced and degreed Civil Engineer to join our growing team within our renewable energy and power generation consultancy. This position is located at RINA's USA consultancy headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan.



You will collaborate with RINA's interdisciplinary team of consultants and engineers delivering design and consulting engineering services across 6 continents. As an experienced Civil Engineer you will work in cooperation with RINA's senior engineers to deliver designs and insights our Clients can rely upon.


Job responsibilities will include:

  • Utilize AutoCAD / Civil 3D to produce and edit design drawings;
  • Provide technical assistance for producing designs and details for renewable development projects;
  • Typical design duties include site layout, grading, erosion control and storm water design;
  • Perform engineering calculations & cost estimates as well as provide engineering reports;
  • Conduct research for zoning and engineering design requirements;
  • Provide permit assistance with applications, plans and other documents required by permitting agencies;
  • Reviewing civil plans, specifications, calculations and studies for plants and substations;
  • Coordinating with other design team disciplines including structural and electrical engineers, surveyors, developers, utilities and contractors;
  • Occasionally assisting with physical inspections of operating, under construction, and under development facilities;
  • Investigating codes, standards, and industry best practices in new markets;
  • Coordinating with clients, utilities, authorities having jurisdiction and code enforcement officers;
  • Responding to requests for information, assisting with general construction support services, and writing technical reports;
  • Maintaining awareness and knowledge of industry best practices;
  • Collaborating with international teams to deliver independent review of generating plants for developers, power producers, and financiers.



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited college, with a focus in renewable energy preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (particularly Word and Excel)
  • Work or School experience working with AutoCAD / Civil 3D Software
  • Have passed test or preparing to take test to become Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Five to seven years' experience in civil engineering or related field internship experience preferred;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Willing to travel for local, out-of-state and international projects;
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to adhere to product quality while balancing time spent;
  • Works well both in team environment and working individually on projects;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship for employment.
