Job Description

The 3rd Party Planner is a key contributor to the successful delivery of Lubricants to our customers on time, in-full, on-spec and at a competitive cost. The role is a unique blend of supplier management, supply chain optimization and operations in partnership with 3rd party toll partners. The 3rd Party Planner will have significant value creation and cost reduction targets that will be achieved through applied commercial thinking, effective contract management, operations and production optimization thrrough sharp collaboration with 3rd party tollers and internal stakeholders.


Contract Management: The 3rd Party Planner is the contract holder for their toll partners. Working closely with the Contract Owner and C&P focal, this role manages the toller's performance against defined KPIs through scheduled performance reviews. This role also helps set the overall strategic direction for Shell's relationship and participates in contract negotiations.

Value Creation/Cost Reduction: The 3rd Party Planner is a commercial role with significant value creation and cost reduction targets requiring engagement with multiple internal stakeholders including Planning colleagues, Logistics, Contracts & Procurement as well as external stakeholders including the toller and other service providers. The range of levers include contractual targets, production optimization, inbound component supply optimization, and inventory management.

Oversight of operational delivery: The 3rd Party Planner oversees the production schedule at the 3rd party toller, ensuring alignment with Shell's customer needs and holds the 3rd party toller accountable for execution of the plan.

Ownership and management of inventory: The 3rd Party Planner manages the component and finished good inventory levels at the 3rd party site and across the Shell network, taking appropriate actions to ensure stock in target and avoidance of obsolescence and waste of these components

Network Optimization and New Product Introduction: The Planner regularly engages with Product Lifecycle Management colleagues to understand and manage portfolio changes and to provide accurate and timely information to enable smooth introductions and withdrawals. The role also works with Integrated Business Value teams to optimize production between the toller and other locations in our network.

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum two (2+) years of supply chain experience with supplier relationship management.
  • Experience with continuous Improvement, cost and planning.
  • Advanced computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Preferred experience with the Lubricants business.
  • Experience with integrated SAP/ERP systems, Supply Chain Planning Tools such as APO.
