Texas A&M University-International Ocean Discovery Program

The JOIDES Resolution Science Operator (JRSO) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Project Engineer (TAMU Classification: Research Specialist III) in our Science Operations divisor. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with offshore drilling, exploration, or production. Three (3) years of design and development including concept generation, industry/contractor liaison, and specification and statement of work development. Design experience with an oilfield services company, mining contractor, geotechnical contractor or scientific drilling program.

Baccalaureate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering or any equivalent combination of training and experience plus eight years of experience (Master's degree is equivalent to two years of experience) in a field relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the assignment. Applicants must have a demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English. Design experience with well completions and downhole or subsea equipment; multidiscipline experience with mechanical, structural, hydraulics and/or electrical systems, is preferred.

Applicants must be able to cooperate and work harmoniously with others, have the ability to be an effective team leader, and foster collaboration among diverse scientific participants. Passing a new employee medical exam and annual seagoing medical exams are a requirement of the position.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant. This is a regular full time position, contingent upon continuing availability of funds for IODP.
