The Senior Integrity Engineer (Corrosion and Materials) has responsibility to provide in-depth technical support in corrosion and erosion assessment and modelling, welding, materials selection, failure investigation and cathodic protection to Perenco UK (PUK), throughout its onshore and offshore asset.

Working hours are Monday to Friday.  Whilst this role is office based there will be a requirement to travel offshore periodically.

Key Skills / Knowledge should include:

1. Corrosion of metals in offshore and oil and gas process environments, including typical mechanisms: e.g. CO2 corrosion, galvanic corrosion, acid corrosion, oxygen corrosion, CUI and pitting corrosion;
2. Erosion damage: e.g. factors affecting erosion rates and the effects of process changes on erosion rates;
3. Environmental and mechanical damage mechanisms: e.g. chloride stress cracking, hydrogen embrittlement, fatigue and overload;
4. Welding: e.g. weld repair strategy review, materials selection, welding process review including pre-heat, heat input and PWHT, post weld NDT, identification of common welding defects and review of WPS, PQR and welder qualifications;
5. Working knowledge of common welding codes such as ASME IX and ISO 15614;
6. Failure investigation: e.g. identification of common damage / failure mechanisms, material property degradation, analysis and testing techniques, fractography and metallurgy;
7. Cathodic protection: e.g. SACP and ICCP for onshore and offshore CP;
8. Working knowledge of NDT techniques: e.g. dye penetrant, UT, LRUT, TOFD, radiography, eddy current, ACFM;
9. Working knowledge of oil and gas process chemicals and their use: e.g. corrosion inhibitors, MEA, MEG/TEG, methanol and foamers;
10. Working knowledge of common pipeline, piping and vessel design and assessment codes: e.g. ASME B31.8, B31.3 and VIII;
11. Working knowledge of UK oil and gas legislation: e.g. PSR, PSSR and COMAH.

Key accountabilities include:

• Provide in-depth corrosion, erosion, materials, welding and CP engineering support to all teams across the business;
• Responsible for the development, review and maintenance of PUK's key integrity documents, including the Corrosion Management Strategies, Solids Management Strategies and Damage Mechanisms;
• Ownership and development of the PUK pipeline internal corrosion models;
• Ownership of the Pipeline Corrosion Management and Erosion Forum meetings;
• Support the Integrity Team Repair Order review for Pipelines, Pressure Systems & Structures;
• Develop, maintain and publish the quarterly corrosion control report, including appropriate KPI's;
• Support regulator liaison for technical discussion, audits and consents and licences for new and existing facilities;
• Support the preparation of annual integrity summaries for pipeline, structures and fixed equipment, including 3rd party activities;
• Initiate, manage and review external studies / surveys by specialist contractors;
• Manage costs by controlling spending and promoting a challenging cost culture to ensure PUK receives value from suppliers and contractors; 
• Act as a technical reviewer in the Management of Change process (PMP/eMOC), providing technical assurance to modifications;
• Support offshore and Terminals in assessing day-to-day technical and safety issues;
• Act as the Perenco representative in the Bacton Interplant Forum of Cathodic Protection, attend scheduled meetings, and execute joint strategies where Perenco involvement is required;
• Carry out failure investigation and defect assessment by way of metallurgical analysis for plant and equipment failures typically involving corrosion, erosion, vibration, impact, stress and welding/manufacturing defect failure modes;
• Fulfil the role of team member within the Pressure Systems "Competent Body" (RBI Team) to meet the expectations of onshore PSSR & COMAH Scheme for onshore Terminals, offshore assets and the expectations within IPPPS.  Attend regular review meetings and provide corrosion engineering support and guidance;
• Provide specialist ad-hoc technical support and advice to future PUK Projects.

Qualifications / Experience

• A recognised metallurgy, materials, corrosion or relevant engineering degree and chartered status (or working toward);
• At least 8 years relevant experience in Process / Petrochemicals Industry, with 5 years relevant experience in onshore/offshore oil & gas.  Ideally in a corrosion, materials and/or welding background;
• With an analytic eye for detail, you should have a pro-active, hands on and innovative approach to problem solving and good interpersonal, IT and communication skills.
