DECK ENGINEER   

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Tasks and Responsibilities of Deck Engineer include (but are not limited to):

  • Wearing, inspecting and caring for required personal protective equipment.

  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance and repair of deck mechanical & hydraulic systems

  • Responsible in consultation with the Chief engineer that any changes to systems are documented, logged and approved by the responsible authority

  • Maintain and repair all deck mechanical and hydraulic systems on the vessel including cranes, carousels, davits and launch and recovery systems.

  • Keep and maintain current vendors' catalogue library of all equipment in area of responsibility

  • Ensure through uniform stock & quantity control, that adequate inventory and level of spares is maintained at all times in area of responsibility

  • To be familiar with all Company procedures, including the Safety Management System, applicable to his duties

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established safety standards and work practices.

  • Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, man overboard exercises, lifeboat launching, security drills and/or other training as applicable for the function

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  •     Knowledge and experience in the offshore industry with at least 5 years' experience in a similar Mechanical role

  •     Mechanical Engineering Degree

  •     Valid Offshore Medical

  •     BOSIET Training or Equivalent (OPITO approved)

  •     Fluent both in spoken and written English

  •     Knowledge of DP Vessel operations

  • Proven background working with hydraulic systems in an offshore environment, preferably relevant to equipment types on the vessel (e.g., dive systems, cranes, carousels)

  • Preferred: STCW95 Reg. III/1 - Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch OICE

 

 

 

 

 

OFFSHORE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (OCM)/SUPERINTENDENT  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Offshore Construction Manager (OCM)/Superintendent responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Overall responsible person in charge of above deck operations crew, and other support vessels assigned within spread.

  • Supervising the overall safe installation of the project as specified and determined in the Project Installation Procedure, liaising with offshore operations and PMT, daily to ensure continuity of works and to report on progress

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established HSES Safety Standards and Work Practices

  • Familiarity with the contents of the offshore operations HSES procedures , ensuring that all supervisory personnel are also aware of the procedures

  • Following the instructions and responsibilities within the Emergency Response Procedures and advising crew of their responsibilities

  • Ensuring all McDermott Offshore Operations Procedures are followed

  • Chair interface meetings/pre shift meetings with all shift supervisors to discuss planned events, and to ensure regular lines of communications are adhered to by all supervisors to maximize safety/efficiency/productivity

  • Ensuring manning levels are maintained for safe operations of the projects

  • Ensuring that the implementation, maintenance and documentation of a routine preventative maintenance/certification program regarding the diving system and support equipment is performed

  • in accordance with the NS5 PMS tracking system (where applicable) or similar PM directives (i.e. project, E&M, OEM, etc.).

  • Action any corrective measures raised by audits and/or inspections carried out by HS&E & Quality Department pertaining to personnel, the work site and supporting equipment under his/her supervision or area(s) of responsibility.

  • Present the project work scope and procedures to crew and the diving personnel for information and discussion.

  • Supervise familiarization programs necessary for the work:

  • Check that all personnel selected for the works are qualified experienced and possesses the relevant in-date certification.

  • Liaise with any Subcontractors involved in the project.

  • Check that the mobilization list is complete in all respects and that all necessary certification is available for all items of equipment that require them.

  • Ensuring that a senior dive team member is present at daily vessel operational meetings when appropriate.

  • Maintain required full and detailed records throughout the project.

  • Promote good morale of the team and ensure that all relevant personnel matters are handled in a correct and efficient manner.

  • Closely monitor the progress of the project work and provide constructive advice where appropriate.

  • Continuously monitor and assess the performance of the personnel under his/her supervision.

  • Ensure that Permit to Work, Management of Change and Task Risk Assessment are being implemented where appropriate for his/her area(s) of responsibility.

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the offshore construction industry

  • Extended knowledge in Marine and Subsea operations with at least 10-15 years' experience in a senior offshore role

  • OIM or OV Certificate/Training/DP Awareness

  • College degree

  • Ability to lead teams with strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Valid Offshore Medical

  • BOSIET Training or Equivalent (OPITO approved)

DEPUTY OFFSHORE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (DOCM)/ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

DECK OR BARGE LEADERMEN

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Deck or Barge Leadermen responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • The Leaderman will have overall responsibility to direct the activities of workers engaged in operation equipment to lift, move, and place materials, and erect structures.

  • Prepare locations where structures are to be placed.

  • Direct load-outs of completed structures.

  • Establish or adjust work procedures.

  • Study production schedule and estimate requirements for assignments.

  • Requisition materials and supplies for the department as required.

  • Specify and approve rigging for heavy lifts.

  • Directs activities of riggers, operators, and tug boats to ensure that anchors are placed in designated positions, using radios.

  • Coordinates the activity of the control tower operator and the welding department to move the barge when working.

  • Sets up machinery and equipment used in anchor handling, analyzes and resolves work problems

  • Confers with deck supervisors to coordinate activities of departments, assists workers engaged in making repairs to vessel.

CRANE OPERATOR 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Crane Operator responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Operating Knuckle Boom and AHC Cranes for vessel specific operations.

  • Overseeing rigging operations on deck and for lifting purposes and wire/rope inspections

  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of alertness and concentration.

  • Working knowledge of crane inspection and to be aware of any problems in the crane structure, hoisting assembly or the drive train.

  • Operating cranes by way of radio communications or hand signals, if applicable

  • Maintaining  safe  crane  operations  as  per  company  and  manufacturers  procedures/guidelines  within  the  crane's capabilities.

  • Ensuring that all activities are undertaken in accordance with all safety and quality requirements

  • Following all company policies and procedures, an ensuring junior reports do the same.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum 7+ years' experience with offshore cranes including AHC and knuckle boom systems

  • Must possess equivalent of S3/G5 Offshore Crane Certification

  • High school graduate

  • Hydraulic Crane Certification including stropping course

  • Certification for operation of Manrider winches and crew access cranes, preferred

  • Valid Offshore Medical

  • BOSIET Training or Equivalent (OPITO approved)

RIGGER FOREMAN 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Rigger Foreman responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage deck operations during either pipelay or construction modes of operation

  • Control all crane lifting operations, or designate the same to qualified others

  • Control or designate all mooring operations of the barge during set up and recoveries

  • Ensure there are adequate, qualified crews to carry out safe and efficient operations

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established HSES Safety Standards and Work Practices

  • Ensuring that all activities are undertaken in accordance with all safety and quality requirements

  • Organizing and distributing above deck activities with Rigging Crews

  • Following all company policies and procedures, an ensuring junior reports do the same.

  • Assisting Rigger Foreman in supervising project work operations via deck crew.

  • Assisting in supervising the daily tasks of rigging crew

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established HSES Safety Standards and Work Practices

  • Ensuring that all activities are undertaken in accordance with all safety and quality requirements

  • Following all company policies and procedures, an ensuring junior reports do the same.

  • Knowledge of DP vessel experience

RIGGER/SCAFFOLDER 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

A combined role, the Rigger/Scaffolder responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible in all aspects of deck activities

  • Carrying out good housekeeping and continually cleaning general deck areas to remove potential obstructions and return equipment and material not in use to their designated storage areas.

  • Loading and offloading materials

  • Participating in project work as instructed by Rigger Leaderman and Foreman

  • Continuously monitor rigging equipment being used and remove from service any equipment found defective

  • Erecting and dismantling scaffolding; inspect and sort scaffolding as required.

  • Maintaining and up-keep of scaffolding materials, in proper order

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established HSES Safety Standards and Work Practices

  • Ensuring that all activities are undertaken in accordance with all safety and quality requirements

  • Knowledge of DP vessel operations

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
