The Welder II will possess all Welder I qualifications and pass welding tests as detailed below. The Welder II will display general mathematical skills, which includes but not limited to working with fractions down to 1/32" and the ability to solve one variable equation. The Welder II will exhibit geometric layout skills as well as pipe and structural welding abilities. The Welder II will possess a general mechanical aptitude demonstrating his/her ability to proficiently operate hand and power tools and an understanding of plumb, level, and square. The Welder II must be punctual, reliable, and motivated. The Welder II must also take exceptional pride in their work and will have passed the SMAW pipe-welding test. The Welder II must also have the ability to perform process pipe and structural steel fit-up with minimal direction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Coordinate with Shop Supervisor to accomplish general assignments
•Be reliable, dependable, and able to work overtime when required
•Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of how to use hand and power tools, drill press, grinder, etc.
•Have the ability to read and understand plan and elevation assembly drawings
•Ability to work with minimal supervision
•Abide by all policies and procedures, including those related to safety and environmental issues
High school diploma, GED, or formal vocational training is preferred. Formal training in welding is preferred.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
•The ability to read and write English
•A basic understanding of the mechanical aspects of gas compressor packages.
•Thorough understanding of all company safety, environmental, and practices
•Pass GMAW 1G plate or pipe test
•Pass SMAW 6G pipe test
•Willing to attend training classes
•Good interpersonal and communication skills
•Strong team player
