Qualification:

  • Graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Robotics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.

 

Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in a related position. Industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Substantial hands-on experience with robotic platforms or automation in an academic, commercial or industrial setting.
  • Experience in robot control algorithms and software: motion planning, optimization, force/torque-control, and mechanical system design and prototyping.
  • Ability to lead team in a results-oriented R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with robotic sensors such as: video cameras, LIDAR, force-torque, SLAM
  • Experience with motion control system components such as brushless motors, encoders, Hall sensors
  • Proficiency in motor, drive train, and bearings; analysis and application
  • Knowledgeable in design of electrical cabling and wiring systems, including wire routing, grounding, shield management, connector systems, environmental sealing, and production methods
  • Experience in mathematical analysis software, i.e. MATLAB
  • Knowledgeable in frequency and time domain analysis of dynamic systems
  • Knowledgeable in at least one programming language (C++, C, MATLAB, Python etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills in English, experience making presentations to groups

Job Purpose

Lead research and development (R&D) programs in area of robotics by driving R&D implementation & innovation, creating strategic collaboration and alliances with research institution & service providers in order to mature selected technologies to desired technology readiness level (TRL), support business requirements and realize value creation

Key Accountabilities

  1. Lead creation of integrated R&D strategies in areas of robotics by translating business pain points into R&D program, driving technology identification & scanning to match global and industry progression to ensure alignment and successful development of technology programs to create competitive positioning and realize value creation

 

  1. Lead robotics team to develop and deploy entirely new robotic and automation solutions for O&G upstream and downstream operations.

 

  1. Lead identification of current operational & business challenges and implement know-how and skills to create effective robotic and automation solutions.

 

  1. Drive R&D to develop innovative, robust and reliable robotic solutions to novel applications including challenging manipulation, locomotion, perception and inspection tasks.

 

  1. Implement, evaluate and extend published algorithms for sensing and control of robotic systems.

 

  1. Develop new mechatronic end-effectors designed to solve specific automation tasks and develop control software and algorithms to integrate this technology into a complete robotic solution.
  2. Characterize and evaluate the performance of developed robotic systems and identify technical limitation and strategies to overcome them.

 

  1. Perform assembly, integration and verification tests of the robotic system.
