Job Description

We have a vacancy for a talented Reservoir Engineer with a "Can-Do" attitude, to join the Shell Brazil Research & Development Organization, Subsurface Technologies, in the Carbonate IOR Team. Our purpose is to develop & deliver multi-discipline technology solutions aimed at increasing recovery from the giant Pre-Salt carbonate deep-water assets of the Santos Basin, Brazil. The key focus is to improve methodologies and/or lower costs for these main technology areas: Subsurface Interpretation & 3D Modelling, Hydrocarbon Recovery (EOR & IOR) and Reservoir Surveillance. There are over 20 multi-discipline projects in the Carbonate IOR portfolio with new projects being developed and contracted each year. All projects are carried out in partnership and collaboration with external third-parties: universities and service companies here in Brazil.

The team works closely in collaboration with the asset, commercial, Shell experts, the Global R&D organization to define scope, activities & best partners for new projects that find solutions for the business, as well as during project execution and technology deployment (which includes field trials).

This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional and technical growth & development for a professional Reservoir Engineer, strong technically, with drive & creativity and excellent stakeholder management skills, looking for a challenging and multi-faceted first role in Shell Brasil. You will be able to use your current skills and build a variety of new, deep & wider technical, business, commercial, project management and leadership skills in a dynamic, agile, multi-discipline team, providing technology solutions for the challenges of the high-profile Pre-Salt Carbonate assets and wider global impact.

Several projects include the set-up of new state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and research programs, so energy and commitment to champion HSE & Best Practice will be paramount, as will the ability to collaborate and steer the research in consultation with Shell experts and colleagues. You will be managing the execution of several varied R&D projects with responsibility for quality delivery against schedule, as well as contributing technically in areas such as rock-fluids and EOR techniques, numerical simulation, new software creation, development of new integrated methodologies & improved workflows for 3D modeling, reservoir surveillance technologies.

Requirements

  • Reservoir Engineer with solid, varied industry experience, preferably with exposure to deep-water projects and carbonate reservoirs, with some previous experience in EOR or labs a plus;
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering or other engineering discipline, with an M.Sc. or Ph.D. an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, stakeholder engagement skills to manage the varied internal & external stakeholders and work effectively across organizational boundaries;
  • Keen drive to learn and work effectively in collaboration with others (cross-discipline and cross-organisations) to deliver technology solutions;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities to meet deadlines;
  • Commitment to Safety Goal Zero and the ability to drive improvements in safety culture & champion best HSE practice.
