PETROPHYSICIST I
JOB SUMMARYThe Petrophysicist I is an integral part of the Engineering/Petrophysics team and is responsible for providing the generation of high quality petrophysical analysis and integrating the results with other sub-surface disciplines while gaining the petrophysical skills necessary to become more proficient as a Petrophysicist ll. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Senior Petrophysicists with in-depth well specific and regional petrophysical reservoir studies, including full integration of core & log data.
  • Provides support and petrophysical evaluation of Unconventional and Conventional reservoirs in siliciclastic, carbonate and fractured reservoirs
  • Under the direction of Senior Petrophysicist assist, engineers and geologists to develop saturation-height relationships for use in geological and flow simulation models.
  • Performs reliable industry standard formation evaluation in support of well operations.
  • Works effectively as a team member, in additional to demonstrating the ability to work and think independently.
  • Excellent Written & Oral Communication skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in petrophysical interpretation and/or two years of coursework experience directly related to petrophysics is required. 
  • Good understanding of the general applications and interpretation of wireline and LWD logs. Image data processing and analysis a plus. 
  • Some level of sonic waveform understanding.
  • Good understanding of basic logging tools (triple combo), response, and calibration
  • Understanding of core data required for core-calibrated petrophysical analysis and modeling
  • Able to perform core-calibrated petrophysical modeling using basic rock properties (porosity, permeability, mineralogy, saturations).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREDValid driver’s license required.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative, take direction, and be a self starter.
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of petrophysics, be familiar with the use of core data, and manipulating log data using commercial petrophysical log analysis packages.
  • Handle multiple assignments and effectively prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
  • Attention to detail is paramount.
