Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and execute Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Implementation Plans on Major Capital Projects (MCPs).
  • Implement HFE design requirements to improve health, safety, operability, reliability and maintainability.
  • Mitigate HFE concerns and risks during design, 3-D model reviews, and material handling reviews.
  • Develop and maintain HFE Tracking Registers and help projects to document, track and closeout all HFE concerns.
  • Assist in development of company guidance on regulations, laws and industry standards related to HFE.
  • Facilitate HFE training for MCPs and Business Units.
  • Conduct HFE assurance reviews in fabrication, vendor and construction yards.
  • Share HFE lessons learned and best practices.
  • Maintain a billable hour target of 70—75%. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics or related field (e.g., Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene).
  • At least 5 years of HFE experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • Demonstrated competence in the application of HFE on MCPs to ensure HFE compliance during design and fabrication in geographically diverse locations.
  • Able to handle multiple assignments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel 40% of time, including 2 to 3 international multi-week trips per year. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering / Ergonomics.
  • Board Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent certification.
  • A full working knowledge of Chevron Engineering Standards related to the safe design of onshore and offshore facilities, and vendor packages.
