Saudi Aramco’s position as a world-leading hydrocarbon explorer and producer offers a unique opportunity for a Geoscientist/Petrophysicist to realize their full technical potential in this developing discipline.
The successful applicant will be experienced in microCT tomography and digital rock analysis. Of primary interest is experience with acquisition, QCing, and analyzing 3D microCT digital images to model internal rock fabric, structural, petrophysical, and physical properties in support of exploration activities.
You will have a unique opportunity to work in an operational environment on computational rock physics supported by industry-leading laboratory and supercomputing resources. Applicants must be familiar with pore-scale modeling, expertise in acquisition, QC, and the use of core-derived petrophysical properties.
As the successful candidate you will have a bachelor degree in petroleum engineering, geology, geophysics, or physics. A master or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
You will have a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Geoscientist/Petrophysicist, including at least 5 years working with challenging 3D tomography issues, preferably related to reservoir evaluation and/or flow simulation.
A proven track record in a relevant discipline as evidenced by previous work, such as publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature/conferences, is preferred.
Other desirable skills include: hands-on experience with advanced image analysis software (Avizo, Mango, Morphy, etc.), and programming experience (Linux codes, Python, etc.).
You will be required to perform the following:
The processing and digital analysis of 3D microCT image data to provide support for operational decisions.
Analyzing, QCing, processing, and performing 3D image analysis. Integrate 3D tomograms with SEM images.
Calibration and integration with lab results, e.g., CCAL, SCAL, MICP, XRF, etc.
Perform log analysis, including calibration with cores and analogues, on exploratory and multiwell, field-wide petrophysical models.
Interpretation and synthesis of rock properties, and develop pore-scale numerical simulations, and structural model development.
Ongoing collaboration with industry leaders on the evolution of new microCT techniques and technologies. 15825BR
