Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
•Identify and evaluate additive components to meet specific performance targets or to advance fundamental understanding
•Conduct and/or direct formulating and testing programs in support of evaluations
•Perform literature and patent searches in support of development areas; give written and oral presentations of work
•Interact with other stakeholders, including procurement, suppliers, test engineers, manufacturing technical and operations, product stewardship, and intellectual property functions to provide a robust understanding of potential applications
•Discuss performance test results with business and other technical teams in support of potential applications
•Create intellectual property through invention disclosures, patent applications, and publications
•Follow processes and conduct work in the safest and most environmentally-sound manner
•Provide work direction to one or more laboratory assistants
Required Qualifications:
•PhD Chemistry degree; or lower-level Chemistry degree & multi-year work history in organic chemistry (industrial context)
•Demonstrated competency in safety and OE-related areas, safe laboratory protocols, and prudent lab practices 
•Demonstrated research experience with technical competency for organic chemical synthesis & analytical techniques
•Demonstrated ability to understand complex issues, design experimental evaluation programs, analyze data, and solve problems through innovation, creativity, persistence, and negotiation
•Demonstrated skills in prioritization, organization, attention to detail and multi-tasking
•Demonstrated excellent communication skills in face-to-face meetings, presentations, written and verbal correspondence, written research reports, and published reports or articles
•Demonstrated ability to effectively interface/consult/collaborate with technical professionals and service providers and demonstrated skills in partnership, leadership, teamwork, and Chevron Way behaviors
