Position Title: Engineering Technician
This position is within the Drilling and Completions organization. The successful candidate will provide technical and operational support for drilling projects. The focus of the group includes the use and support of WellView 9 and other database tools, and on collection, analysis, and presentation of engineering and operational data from a variety of other sources. It may occasionally be necessary to travel to rig site locations for short periods of time to provide WellView support and training, or to collect data and to provide operational supervision and support. Depending on the candidate’s experience and interests, the primary assignment could focus on WellView 9 support, on operational and engineering support, or a combination of these two aspects of the job.
- High volume work environment that includes the following:
- Daily QA/QC of Wellview drilling reports and Days vs. Depth (DVD) reports
- Processing drilling AFEs and bi-monthly and quarterly reporting
- Tracking/reporting NPT
- Tracking/reporting phase analyses
- Wellview set ups and well entries
- Creating Spotfire automated enhancement tools for reporting/analyses
- Monitors status of projects to ensure that work is completed according to plans
- Puts results into appropriate formats and presents to management for review
- Demonstrates proficiency with basic software packages used for daily duties and responsibilities
- Analyze/extract data from various databases to assist with cost and performance variance analysis
- Evaluate AFEs and prepare recommendations for approval by the supervising engineer
- Gather accrual data & project updates for accounting as required
Associates degree is required
Demonstrated skill with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with working knowledge of Project and Access.
Knowledge of drilling operations, including drilling engineering, field operations, cost and performance forecasting, and basic economics.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and planning & organizational skills.
Drilling or operations experience
Previous experience with Spotfire and WellView
Navigational experience in SAP, and /or a working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications
