 General Description:


 The Sr Technical Advisor E/I position is responsible for development and coordination of Automation, Instrumentation, and Controls Projects at  Refineries. The TA is responsible for implementation of management directives and goals including instrument and controls engineering, process control management, automation projects including onsite assistance to the Refineries during unplanned outages. Responsible for development of the annual capital budget for instrument/controls, staffing plan, AFE generation, scope of work, detailed estimates, and other duties as may be required to support refinery instrument/controls operations. Lead a varying staff of Automation/Project Managers, Project Engineers, I&E Designers, Construction Supervisors & Coordinators, and external consultants as required from time to time. Oversee the project execution plans of small and mid-size instrument/controls projects at times working with outside EPC firms. Provide guidance and leadership using the clients project management practices.


Skills Required:


                     ·         20 years of progressive automation and instrumentation engineering experience

·         Minimum of 10 years' experience working as an Instrumentation Engineer

·         Responsible for design, engineering and implementation of distributed controls

·         Fluent in Honeywell and Delta V process controls systems

·         Demonstrated knowledge of advanced instrumentation systems including TMR

·         Advanced knowledge of automated processing systems required

·         Extensive knowledge of engineering systems, standards and procedures

·         Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and prioritize tasks

·         Ability to address and handle confidential issues and materials on a regular basis

·         Ability to accept changes and quickly align resources to effect outcomes

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, P6, and project estimating tools required

·         Fluent in English, oral and written required



Duties & Responsibilities:



·         Responsible for overall control system methodology and standards utilized in process control

·         Develop robust synergistic instrument and controls plan for both refineries

·         Participate and lead development of instrument and control projects

·         Participate as required in plant outages including planned turnarounds

·         Provide leadership, guidance and support to refinery based instrumentation personnel

·         Participate in the development & implementation of the client project procedures and systems

·         Maintain regular communication with executive and refinery management teams

·         Participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives as assigned

·         In cooperation with other groups train and mentor project engineering staff
