Overview / Responsibilities
Wood Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. seeks a Technical Professional 2 – Civil to work in Denver, CO, and assist with/on a range of projects related to mining and industrial/commercial sectors. Will also: provide technical civil engineering design documentation in Spanish for Mexico in-country mining infrastructure including tailings dams, heap leach pads, piping, road, access, and drainage; interact with U.S., Canadian, and Mexican engineers; participate in Mexican mining-related business development efforts, including coordination and participation in conferences; conduct engineering or scientific calculations as well as perform site support activities at mine sites in Mexico; and use relevant software as well as prepare field reports, internal correspondence, and sections of formal reports.
Skills / Qualifications
Must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering plus two (2) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related position.
Must also have any experience with: (i) overseeing field activities including sampling and site audits; (ii) geotechnical subsurface investigations with different drilling techniques and piezocone instrumentation in mine waste storage facilities; (ii) preparing regulatory SEMARNAT and CONAGUA compliance, investigation, and engineering reports including work plans, health and safety plans as well as moderate to complex technical reports; (iii) modeling of embankment stability using specialized software, such as RocScience SLIDE; (iv) processing raw piezocone data with CPeT-IT software; (v) logging geotechnical boring data using gINT software, drawings and video animation in 3D utilizing 3ds Max Design, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Lumion; and (vi) business development for Mexico mining clients, including (but not limited to) mine site visits, conference attendance, etc.
Must also hold/have a valid Mexican Civil Engineering License as well as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license or be able to attain an EIT license within six (6) months.
Must pass drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record as well as be able to travel to remote mine sites in Mexico up to 50%.
