The individual in this position is responsible for the safe, clean, efficient, and effective operation, repair, and maintenance of the electrical components for a mobile micro-grid that is primarily composed of the following equipment with 13.8kVAC, 600VAC, and 480VAC components: Gas filtration, gas compression, mobile turbine generators, switchgear, transformers, and electric pumps which are used for electric powered hydraulic fracturing. The electrician will perform hands-on medium voltage electrical field service work on the equipment.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures set forth by US Well Services, LLC
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Ensure all personnel working on Clean Fleet® site are aware of electrical hazards
  • Rig down and rig up of electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, power cables, grounding cables, electric pumps, and other electrical equipment

· Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

· Perform HIPOT testing (dielectric strength test), megger testing (insulation resistance), grounding testing, and other electrical tests as required.

· Operates and maintains medium voltage switchgear and controls; may repair and maintain motor control centers, variable frequency drives, electrical motors and programmable logic controls.

· Troubleshoots and repairs primary distribution system malfunctions such as ground fault tracing and cable replacement.

· Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in medium and low voltage circuits and systems including switchgears, transformers, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, soft starts, and other electrical system components

· Isolating faults in medium voltage and low voltage distribution system and replacing cable runs

· Operating all medium voltage controls and switchgears including repairing and replacing medium voltage

  • Monitor and inspect medium and low voltage electrical equipment
  • Must provide own basic tools and understand their proper use
  • Moderate use of hand and power tools to work with and repair electrical equipment
  • Must use proper grounding techniques
  • Must perform proper and safe cable routing

· Promote ethical behavior in all aspects of the business and lead by example

· Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

· Will be required to complete all USWS training including Flash Arc Training and Basic Electrical Safety Training as provided

· Must be able to determine appropriate level of personal protective equipment (PPE) needed for the specific assigned task

· Must properly use ladders and safety harnesses

· Must be able to properly use various tools such as: multimeters, meggers, scopemeter, along with other hand tools needed to complete the job

· Must be able to apply theory in electrical principles for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions

  • Possess working knowledge of USWS Clean Fleet® Equipment
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure all personnel working on Clean Fleet® site are aware of electrical hazards

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements

  • 1+ years of electrical field work on electrical systems of 480VAC or higher.
  • Successful completion performing megger testing (insulation resistance) and recording results
  • Successful completion performing HIPOT testing (dielectric strength test) and recording results
  • Successful completion inspecting and connecting medium voltage equipment with cables
  • Successful completion inspecting and grounding medium voltage equipment, testing the ground, and recording results

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain a Journeyman or Master Electrician License issued by the state of the District advertising the opening within 6 months of starting
  • 2+ years' experience in medium voltage electrical field work preferred.

· Knowledge of medium voltage systems and equipment, substations, multiple interconnected substations, and primary power distribution preferred.

· Knowledge of National Electrical Code, NFPA-70E, OSHA 10-30, and the National Electrical Safety Code.

· Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test medium and low voltage electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.

· Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

· Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers.

· Ability to read both commercial and industrial electrical blueprints and apply NEC, NFPA-70A, NESC, and OSHA 10-30 through the full range of industrial maintenance and mobilization work.

· Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures

· Ability to install and maintain cables, VFDs, motors, generators, circuit breakers, switchgear, and transformers as appropriate to the position.

· Ability to isolate defects in cables, wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

· Ability to work rotational schedule (typically 15 days on, 6 off), including long and/or occasionally irregular hours

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Clean MVR
  • Medium Voltage Electrician Certificate preferred
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) License preferred
