Position: Coating Inspector
Location: Offshore, Qatar
Project: Brownfield EPC Shutdown (Oil & Gas)
Job Type: Shutdown
Job Purpose:
To supervise and ensure all coating and painting activities on piping, structures, jackets, and topsides are executed in accordance with project specifications, international standards (NACE/SSPC), and client requirements for offshore shutdown EPC works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspection and verification of surface preparation (blast cleaning, power tool, etc.) as per project requirements.
- Monitor coating application (FBE, 3LPE, epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers, etc.) on offshore structures, piping, and tanks.
- Ensure DFT (Dry Film Thickness), WFT (Wet Film Thickness), holiday detection, adhesion, and cure tests are conducted and meet standards.
- Review painting/coating procedure specifications, ITPs, and ensure full compliance during execution.
- Ensure painting works are in accordance with NACE, SSPC, ISO 12944, and project-specific coating systems.
- Maintain painting reports, inspection logs, and generate daily inspection and NCR reports if needed.
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 (minimum) or BGAS-CSWIP Grade 2 certification.
- Valid offshore certifications (BOSIET, H2S, and medical).
- Knowledge of ISO 8501, ISO 12944, SSPC, and project-specific coating systems.
Experience Required:
· Academic Qualification:
Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma
(in respective engineering discipline) or higher educational qualification in engineering
· Experience:
10 Years inspection experience including 2 years of this inspection experience in the specific commodity and processes to be inspected
· Technical Qualification:
NACE Level II, BGAS-CSWIP Grade II or equivalent
· Other:
BOSIET + H2S certificate.
