Job Description
The Structural Engineer will design structures that withstand Alaskan winters, earthquakes, and high winds; crunch numbers; analyze stresses; and make steel beams feel invincible. The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects and civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers (and maybe even find yourself on a site visit where you can catch king salmon).
Job responsibilities:
  • Analyze structures using computer analysis programs
  • Prepare structural plans, details, specifications, and related construction observations
  • Lead structural and multi-discipline projects
  • Review other engineers' designs and project structural drawings
  • Interpret and coordinate with architectural drawings
  • Participate in design progress meetings
  • Assist with project proposals
  • Observe on-site structural construction
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural coursework emphasis
  • Professional Engineer registration
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Mathcad
  • Familiarity with RISA, STAAD, SAP, Enercalc, or similar Structural Analysis Software
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional preferred experience/skills:
  • M.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Structural Engineer registration
  • Revit experience
  • Project Management experience and/or Designer of Record
  • Interest in continued professional development
