Our client, OneSubsea (JV of Schlumberger, Aker Solutions and Subsea7), located in Mobile, Alabama is looking to add 4 Mechanical Engineers - II.

Position Summary

OneSubsea is seeking to hire experienced Mechanical Engineers. Responsible for all aspects related to the delivery of completed engineering design in accordance to industry standards and project requirements within the Offshore Subsea industry.

Essential Duties

  • Understand the components of department or project priorities related to the work being performed.
  • Provide assistance in product design drawings and development work for product line, producing drawings and related documentation as directed. Evaluate effectiveness, safety, and economic impact of designs and develop recommendations to optimize results if required.
  • Proactive in keeping team and direct management well informed by preparing and delivering well instructed, appropriately targeted, written and verbal communications.
  • Provide technical advice and instruction/interpretation of design rules/ procedures/standards to less experienced colleagues, and ensure their understanding is sufficient for the appropriate delivery of work
  • Review technical documentation prepared by less experienced colleagues in-line with QA procedures/processes
  • Present ideas for changes/enhancements to ways of working and/or new design approaches for approval by more senior team members
  • Manage own work on a day-to-day basis, under a degree of direct supervision/oversight

Education and Required Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of technical experience
  • Subsea Hardware (i.e.: XMTs, Manifolds, WOS, PLETs, PLEMs, Distribution Systems, and Tie-in) or Umbilicals experience strongly preferred but no required.
  • Ability to contribute to bid and proposal process.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts, explaining detailed technical information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are important.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g.: API 6A, API 17 series, API RP 2A, API 2GEO, ASME BPVC, etc.) preferred but no required;
  • Capable of specifying load conditions and design criteria for structural calculations;
  • Capable of performing simple calculations to determine capacity of frames, pressure vessels and pipes;
  • Knowledge of machining and welding processes;
  • Ability to work independently to develop, collect and interpret data, and prepare draft reports for a variety of projects.
  • Ability to interpret and apply GD&T on drawings and models;
  • Prior experience with Solidworks and Autocad strongly preferred but no required;
  • Prior experience with SAP PLM preferred;
