As a Survey Engineer with Saipem you'll be responsible for

  • Installation, testing and operation of Survey and Positioning equipment: GNSS and differential correction receivers, echo-sounders, gyrocompasses, motion reference units, bathymetric systems, cross profilers, pipe- and cable-trackers, USBL/LBL acoustic positioning systems, INS, Doppler Velocity Logs, digital video systems, peripherals (printers, remote monitors, etc.).
  • Conducting regular maintenance of equipment.

    This is an offshore role, working on board vessels in rotation (35/35) as part of an international team. Extensive travel is required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Planning, testing and supervising installation and configuration of survey equipment.
  • Planning, undertaking and maintaining all survey and positioning equipment.
  • Liaising with marine crew and third parties with regard to deck operations and equipment installation and documentation and permissions.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient mobilisations and demobilisations of Survey and Positioning systems.
  • Quality controlling results, analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Accurate reporting of equipment failures.
  • Maintain offshore equipment inventory and stock levels.
  • Ensuring that clear and accurate online survey logs are maintained.
  • Conducting observations of seawater parameters.
  • Providing technical support to Project Surveyors.
  • Acting as Online Surveyor when required.
  • Undertaking video eventing when required.
  • Liaising with third party provider of DGNSS signals, Survey and Positioning systems and Survey software.
  • Performing risk assessments and tool box talks in the course of day-to-day activities.
  • Conducting all activities following Company Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Adhering to Company safety, health and environmental procedures and policies.


Essential:

  • A solid understanding of survey engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject (or an appropriate military qualification)
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 2-3 years' relevant experience.
