Partner with the best

Your focus will be on enabling external reporting of Planet (HSE) and Emissions KPIs and performance indicators in accordance with reporting frameworks, regulator guidance and internal SME's. As part of the Data Engineering team, you will help create standard data models, analyses, automation and low-code systems which support Baker Hughes' external disclosures, Emissions reduction targets as well as compliance reporting.

Responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities

As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team on development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include Emissions Experts, Architects, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Engineers, Supply Chain experts and Controllers across business units. Potential application areas include emissions/water/waste management, biodiversity reporting, regulatory reporting, control and risk management, health & safety metrics.

In this role, you will:

 

• Having experience in at least one data modality (e.g., text, numeric, image), conversant in more than one. Proficient in multiple ETL / MDM tools.
• Implementing Data Lake & Big/Small data models with automated MDM and data quality capabilities, leveraging cloud technologies (e.g.: AWS, Databricks, Azure, etc.)
• Demonstrating proficiency at industry standard data modeling approaches (e.g.: multi-dimensional modeling.).
• Integrate domain data knowledge into development of data requirements.
• Looking across multiple systems, understands the purpose of each system and defines data requirements by systems.
• Identifying downstream implications of data loads/migration (e.g., data quality, regulatory, etc.).

 

Required Qualifications

 

 

• Have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 6 years of professional experience.

Business Acumen:

 

 

• Be able to deliver results when working on shorter-term (weeks-months), outcome-focused service engagements
• Be able to leverage knowledge about competitors, trends, and changing regulations across the broad environment to bring new ideas to the team
• Be able to articulate the value proposition of existing technology capabilities and maps them to customer requirements to minimize incremental cost of development

 

Leadership:

 

 

• Be able to use teamwork skills to understand vision, achieve goals, solve problems, and manage conflict. Identifies individual differences
• Be able to inform engineering and other stakeholders of key customer issues, identifies potential problems, or conflicts and resolves them when necessary
• be able to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts

 

Technical:

 

 

• Have good experience in Data Engineering (SQL, Data Modelling, ELT)
• Have good experience in Distributed Data Processing (e.g.: Spark, MPP databases)
• Have experience with 'User Experience' processes (ex: Design Thinking, Prototyping, Wireframing, User Journeys, etc.)
• Have experience working in Agile software development environment
• Have experience with different ETL tools (e.g.: Talend, Informatica) and/or Cloud Services (e.g.: Object Store).
