Title
SR. OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Primary Purpose of Job
1. Manage the team of operations engineers who are responsible for designing and programming wells and completions, and providing the engineering support during well construction operations for all new onshore wells. Work is performed in accordance with QP polices, procedures and standards to achieve annual drilling objectives. 2. Identify and mitigate HSE and process safety risks in all onshore drilling operations through a systematic approach to hazard management with the objective to protect people, the environment and QP assets and reputation. 3. Ensure performance improvement on a continuous basis by instilling a high performance culture within the operations team by setting high standards and expectations for flawless execution and by preparing and monitoring key performance indicators for assigned rigs. 4. Review and approve the drilling programmes prepared within the section to ensure they are technically correct, the optimum design has been selected and that they comply with QP policies standards and procedures. 5. Review and approve all end-of-well reports to ensure that all important learning events are captured for the optimization of future operations. 6. Initiate change and champion "best practice" and new technology application to enhance well designs and operational performance to ensure fit for purpose wells at the lowest cost. 7. Work with counterparts in Oil Field Dev.(UN) department to address well deliverability risks related to drilling (i.e. water production, well integrity issues, productivity impairment, etc.) including the identification of risk scenarios, development of preventative measures, and preparation of mitigation tactics. 8. Lead the team of engineers in re-tendering of material call-off and service contracts during the scope of work preparation and technical evaluation to ensure fit for purpose contracts. 9. Manage the service tickets and material purchasing activities by reviewing all Release Orders (ROs) and Service Entry Sheets (SESs) through the SAP system to insure all invoices are according to QP contracts and the work performed. 10. Develop Qatari nationals to fill critical engineering roles through focused development programs, assignment of appropriate tasks and close monitoring and support.

Education
• BSc. Engineering Degree (Petroleum Engineering preferred).

Experience & Skills
• Experienced professional with at least 15 years experience in Drilling Engineering including a minimum of 5 years as an operations drilling engineer involved in planning and designing wells and 2 years rig site experience. • Mastery in well design, tubular design, wellbore construction, drilling fluids, well control, and a good understanding of geology. • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills and a keen awareness for cultural sensitivity. • Fully conversant with and ability to use all Drilling Engineering Software within EDT (Engineers Desktop) including; Compass; Well Plan; Stress Check and Casing Seat. • Experience with hydrogen sulphide safety practices and material selection. • Knowledge of tendering and contracting procedures and practices. • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
