R&D Test Technician is responsible for determining the qualification of elastomeric seals for use in the manufacturing of SLB products. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assembles and tests elastomer seals with annular and ram type BOP. Activities vary in complexity and involve appreciable responsibility for care.
  • Performs BOP (Blow out Preventer) and test fixture assembly, plumbing, troubleshooting equipment, testing and trimming/cleaning of annular/ram type packers utilizing BOPs or other test fixtures, overhead crane, forklift, calibrated test equipment (gauges, load cells, etc.) using written procedures and establishing practices.
  • Drains, cleans, and greases assemblies for storage and/or shipment.
  • Conduct tests and completes reports including traceability, test results, etc.
  • Assists in the molding of R&D rubber parts.
  • Record daily testing progress including schedule adjustments as needed.
  • Work closely with the maintenance dept. to ensure mechanical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Complies with plant safety policies/rules, stencils/marks required information on assemblies/sub-assemblies, maintains traceability for equipment requiring traceability, and
  • identifies/segregates (where practical) non-conforming products.
  • Performs computer transactions related to job activities.
  • Will be required to adhere to and comply with state and federal law, the company's policies, safety and environmental regulations, and the quality program requirements of API Q1 and ISO 9001:2000 as described in the company's quality program manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager.


Minimum Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related occupation in the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum of three months experience in assembly and testing of wellhead and drilling products.
  • Proficient in the use of testing equipment per plant procedures.
  • Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
