Overview / Responsibilities
Wood Consulting are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join the Proposals function as part of the Americas regional proposals team. This is role which will report in directly to the Regional Proposals Manager will be responsible for all service lines within the consulting business and cover a wide range of New Energies, Energy transition, engineering and automation work scopes.
This is a business-critical role with high visibility and an opportunity to drive growth and expansion for the group. The Proposal Manager will work closely with Business Development and Executive Management on a diverse portfolio of tenders within regional energy market segments, across the Americas Consulting business. As such, the role provides an opportunity for an experienced proposal professional to gain significant exposure to Wood's tender governance process and an expanded understanding of the overall business context that will provide significant benefit to their future career.
Key Responsibilities :
The Proposal Manager role is a hands-on delivery and leadership position, having the overall responsibility and accountability for the proposal process and quality of proposals for the region.
- Responsible for leading all phases of high value or designated strategic pursuits from business development, decision to pursue through proposal development to compilation, post tender clarifications and sales to operations handover.
- Prepares and maintains standard proposal collateral based on team feedback to streamline proposal preparation.
- Tracks and manages tenders through award.
- Assigns and disseminates tender preparation actions.
- Delivers key aspects of each proposal.
- Manages and facilitates the standing and as-needed tendering update and review meetings.
- Manages the tendering budget
- Tracks and reports on success metrics
- The role will involve regular engagement with Wood Senior Management in establishing and managing the proposal strategy and driving compliance with all relevant stages of the Identify Acquire Deliver (IAD) process.
- Prepare proposal approval and project handover documentation to support Wood's governance processes for bids requiring approval at Business Unit level or above
- In addition to the activities detailed above undertakes the following:
- Maintain oversight of the internal proposal budget on a monthly basis to ensure any trend towards an overspend is identified as early as possible.
- Maintain input into Wood's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database used to ensure Senior Management have an up-to-date status of prospects and new business forecasts
- Work closely with other offices and Proposals Managers
- Support update / standardization of tendering process, internal procedures, work instructions etc to align with Wood governance requirements and Consultancy practices
- Input to Weekly and Monthly internal reporting
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of proposal coordinators / application engineers / engineering estimators, with responsibility for checking output, compliance and delivery timeliness
- Drive innovation and customer value across target sectors
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Communications preferred.
- Previous industry experience within Oil & Gas, Consulting or related industry
- Previous experience focused on equipment supply and engineering services preferred.
- Previous experience focused on engineering and consultancy services preferred.
- Experience leading tendering teams in a fast paced and challenging environment.
- Extensive experience managing cost and budgets.
- Has sufficient technical understanding to understand, interpret and communicate technical issues with potential Clients.
- Must have the commitment to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems in a constructive and positive manner.
- Able to review proposal documents and ensure the highest quality responses are included within the overall proposal response with key messages used throughout
- Willingness to challenge and strive to enhance quality and presentation of draft proposals in order to articulate clear value propositions to the customer.
- Willingness to challenge and strive to enhance quality and presentation of input received from authors in the bid team.
- Effective communication skills particularly in writing clearly and concisely with impact and meaning.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, able to drive a team through the proposals process while maintaining the schedule together with strong facilitation skills, able to control a room for group sessions. i.e., kick-off and status meetings.
- Enhanced understanding of Microsoft Office suite of programs, particularly Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
- Experience with MS Dynamics or other customer relationship management (CRM) tool preferred
