Overview / Responsibilities

Wood requires a Senior Instrument Engineer to join an established engineering and design team to support CSL in their onshore and offshore gas storage operations on an initial 6 month contract.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting customer personnel to ensure that their plant and assets are operated, maintained and modified in such a manner that integrity is not compromised, this may include development / revision of documented interlock test procedures, verification / MoC as necessary to ensure that assets comply with legal statute and customer policy
  • Sharing of extensive knowledge of asset integrity practices and legislation. provide functional leadership across departmental boundaries
  • Interfacing and managing any associated vendor organisations and / or personnel, supporting other customer Engineers and Maintenance Teams working within the same project group
  • Offering expert advice of Control and Instrumentation across a diverse range of industries with expertise in asset integrity practices, ATEX and engineering modification / control

On occasion, the individual may:
  • Be instructed to deliver technical support to departments / disciplines as required within other areas of the customer organisation, take the technical lead on a specific project or projects as identified by the customer Engineering Manager
  • Instructed to aid the customer Engineering Manager in coaching other individuals as may be required, etc. to enhance the engineering maintenance / compliance process


Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Instrument and Control Engineering or HNC / HND with suitable experience
  • Experience of equipment specification and calculations, such as, Intrinsically Safe calculations, thermowell sizing, etc
  • Membership of an appropriate professional Body / Institute
  • Demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of Instrumentation and Control engineering
  • Experience of relevant codes and standards including BS 7671, IEC 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, CDM 2015, etc
  • Experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical or power generation sectors
  • Have experience of working with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of control systems design and functionality, such as DCS, PLC's, SCADA, etc
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of industry best practices and work to established standards and current legislation

Desirable:
  • Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering institution
  • Offshore certified and previous experience in site surveys
  • TUV functional safety certification
  • CompEx 12 training
