Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently looking for a HSSE Technician to work in Las Rozas (Madrid).
Functions:
In the office
- Be fully familiar with the requirements, policies and procedures of the contract and ensure that the requirements related to the office operations are implemented
- Maintain HSSE management system documentation
- Conduct HSSE risk analysis and HSSE assessment
- Promote HSSE culture in the workplace
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local legal and statutory requirements related to HSSE
- Maintain comprehensive records and reports of HSSE management activities
- Plan and coordinate HSSE education and training of staff
- Communicate health and safety action plans, concerns and decisions to staff.
- Conduct safety observations to identify unsafe behaviors or conditions to reduce losses or near-miss incidents and reinforce good safety behavior
- Conduct periodic HSSE inspections and follow up on any deficiencies observe.
- Investigate and report any incidents requiring such action. Follow up on the medical treatment of any casualties
- Implement proactive measures to curb accidents / incidents, unsafe behaviors / conditions and prevent recurrence through promotions, campaigns and talks / training
- Manage the necessary HSE records
- Liaise with project designated medical center on first aid and medical treatment
- Manage Business Activity Coordination issues.
On Site / Project
- Be fully familiar with contract requirements, policies and procedures and ensure that requirements related to site operations are implemented
- Ensure that construction / operational activities are carried out in accordance with project objectives and schedules. Implement HSE plans on site with respect to HSE work practices such as; HSE instructions for contractors, behavioral based HSE process, permit to work, working at heights, fire safety
- Maintain the effectiveness and ongoing development of the HSSE management system and provide direction and support for its implementation on the project
- Conduct daily HSE inspections and follow up any observed deficiencies with contractors field management
- Investigate and report any incidents requiring such action. Follow up on the medical treatment of any casualties
- Implement proactive measures to curb accidents / incidents, unsafe behaviors / conditions and prevent recurrence through promotions, campaigns and talks
- Verify the maintenance inspection system of heavy equipment and machinery / power tools during pre-deployment and during periodic inspection
- Ensure contractors implement safe work procedure according to agreed work methods
- Review chemicals to identify and minimize potential health, safety and environmental issues during construction, commissioning, transportation and operations
- Conduct safety observations to identify unsafe behaviors or conditions to reduce losses or near-miss incidents and reinforce good safety behavior
- Ensure rigging and other activities are in line with lifting ratings and safe work practice requirements
- Provide assistance and guidance to project and construction management teams regarding planning and execution strategies for HSSE activities on the project
- Conduct periodic HSSE inspections and follow up on any observed deficiencies with contractors' field management
- Implement an assurance strategy to monitor compliance with the project HSSE Execution Plan and HSSE procedures
- Ensure rigging and other activities are in line with lifting ratings and safe work practice requirements.
Skills / Qualifications - Certificate as a technician of superior degree of Occupational Risk Prevention (PRL) at least with specialization in occupational safety
- Previous experience of 3 years developing functions of occupational risk prevention technician for an own prevention service in an engineering company or in an industrial environment
- Ability to interpret and implement legal and other HSSE requirements (ISO45001, ISO14001, internal company requirements)
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Well versed in Accident Prevention Methodologies and preparation of Incident / Accident Statistics and reporting system
- Good interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate articulately with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
- Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude
- Previous experience as a PRL technician or HSSE technician in engineering companies will be a valuable asset.
