What's the role?
This dynamic position will develop, execute, and take ownership of the implementation of a global gas model. This tool will be a building block in a transformation to a globally connected, digital-forward and stakeholder-centric analytical team. Shell Energy Integration and Fundamentals (SEIF) The Fundamental Analysis team will be more flexible, nimble, and collaborative in responding to the requirements of trading, origination, and structuring groups working in a growing LNG industry that is essential to a lower carbon future.
The analyst will have the unique chance to make an immediate impact towards Shell LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT)'s profitability, which is a major contributor to Shell's overall earnings and an important business for driving Shell's ambition of Powering Progress. The role is based in the trading hub of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) and co-located with SLMT.

This is a quantitative and analytical role within a team re-focusing its tools and ways of working on providing competitive edge to Shell's LNG and global gas trading teams. The successful candidate will have a unique development opportunity working closely with the largest trading team within the growing LNG industry while helping shape and develop the Fundamental Analysis teamSEIF's transformation to "best in class." Multiple career paths are accessible from the role: commercial and trading; advanced analytics and data science; and team leadership.
Applications will only be considered for location in Dubai because of its concentration of stakeholders in SLMT's major trading hub and the proximity to the Fundamental Analysis team's Senior CBAs.
The role will require some foreign travel (expected 1-3 times per year) to engage key internal stakeholders and team events.

This position has the following accountabilities:
- LNG market expertise is not required. What is essential is bringing a diverse, curious, digital and quantitative mindset to continue developing our team culture of being even more diverse, collaborative, fun, accountable and fast paced. The Fundamental Analysis team's goal is to provide "Best-in-Class" market analysis. This is defined by delivering timely and actionable market insights pre-emptively to our stakeholders. It is continuously testing and improving our forecasts against internal and external benchmarks and working collaboratively across a global team for shared success.
- With guidance from senior analysts the Senior Cross Book Analysts, configure, develop and run the team's new global gas model. Maintain a critical eye for detail while being poised enough to recognize when timeliness of analysis will have the greatest impact.
- Closely coordinate with Senior Cross Book Analysts andacross SEIF's global team of high performing analysts on supply, demand, infrastructure, and policy inputs for modeling multiple global market outcomes, with a focus on the Energy Transition.
- Develop a brevity-focused communication style (using underlying assumptions and beliefs in a succinct delivery) to articulate quantitative forecasts to Senior CBAs, the wider SEIF Fundamentals team and stakeholders.
- Employ Learner Mindset when receiving feedback and challenges on your modelled outputs and forecasts from the team and stakeholders.
- Assess, identify, and develop processes to maximize the value and efficiency of the team's evolving forecasting tools.
- Work closely with SEIF Fundamental Analysis team's embedded internal IT team to advance complementary technology for the global gas modelling.
- Develop digital tools that high value to stakeholders in conjunction with SEIF's Digital Transformation SWAT team.
- Collect and synthesize global energy, macroeconomic data, and external outlooks to drive forecasting assumptions and benchmarking exercises.
- Support SEIF's gas/LNG price guidance models on a quarterly and annual basis. This will require coordinating with a wider scope of Shell stakeholders., including Strategy particularly economics.
- Support existing country-level forecast models with a concentration on Middle East and South Asia LNG importers.
