Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for an Operations Technician with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. Position is located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. This position will require you to travel offshore via helicopter or supply vessel. Individuals must be comfortable working in remote locations, confined spaces, and working at heights.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Coordinating start-up, operation, and shut-down of offshore process and utility plants
- Preparing, executing and monitoring the control of work processes
- Optimizing production volumes in a safe and effective manner
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate logs and reporting records
- Collaborating to address key technical areas and priorities
- Identifying improvement opportunities and providing technical solutions
- Adhering to client safety and operational integrity management programs
Skills / Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- 10+ years experience as an Operator in a Hydrocarbon producing / Processing facility
- Inter-Provincial Journeypersons Certificate or technologist qualification. Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may also be considered
- Broad working knowledge of well equipment, separation, gas compression, power generation and utility systems
- Working knowledge of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Emergency Control System (ECS), and Fire & Gas System (FGS) would be considered a strong asset
- Familiarity in using Windows-based applications, as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. SAP)
- Working knowledge of safety practices common to the oil and gas industry
For this position, training is required for offshore travel.
While it is preferred that candidates already have the below certifications, some training may be provided
- Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
- Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
- Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Emergency First Aid
