JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to manage the development of novel applications for graphene. The ideal candidate will be multidisciplinary with a background in chemistry, material science and/or chemical engineering. The senior scientist will manage multiple projects in the early stages of research and development focused on proof of concept and feasibility studies. This is an interdisciplinary position requiring a willingness to investigate novel ideas in a dynamic environment with other scientists and engineers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and execute research projects for the development of new graphene-based materials and products
- Work closely with researchers and management to align projects with company goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges related to introducing graphene products into the marketplace
- Manage multiple projects, resources and personnel in a goal-oriented environment.
- Evaluate the performance of new materials for quality, novel characteristics, performance and reliability
- Execute hands-on experiments in the laboratory to initiate projects, demonstrate proof of concept and verify critical results
- Maintain accurate records of research, prepare reports and present results
- Stay current with industrial trends and academic advances in the field of graphene
- Participate in training exercises and development activities to enhance technical, safety and professional skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or related field preferred. Will consider master's degree with 3 years of experience or bachelor's degree with 5 plus years of experience in a related industrial setting
- At least 2-3 years of experience with nanomaterials, preferably graphene
- Hands on expertise with a variety of chemistry lab practices
- Well versed in synthetic chemistry techniques, product purification and material characterization
- Experience with analytical equipment such as NMR, UV-Vis, Raman, FTIR, XRD and EM.
- Ability to design and execute well controlled experiments, analyze data interpret results and draw conclusions
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Commitment to safety and quality
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- The primary location for this position is an office environment.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Rig yard trips may be expected from time to time.
