Supervises and controls petroleum engineering activities related to the preparation and execution of programmes for well testing, completion, workover, production logging, well evaluation and monitoring activities to ensure proper reservoir management.  Includes reviewing and amending drilling and workover schedules, well performance evaluation, well monitoring programmes, well stimulations and wire-line production logging.  Reviews reports prepared by subordinate Engineers such as drilling proposals, well completion, well testing, well monitoring and performance reports.

Responsibilities:

Directs the activities of the assigned Engineers involved in carrying out a variety of duties related to the preparation and execution of programmes required for reservoir management, such as well testing, completion, workover and production logging, etc.

Receives reservoir management objectives for well testing, completion, workover and production logging from Senior Reservoir Engineer, reviews for feasibility and recommends modifications as necessary in consultation with Senior Geologist and Senior Drilling Engineer.

Reviews well testing, completion and production programmes prepared by subordinates, contractors and / or consultants to ensure they meet approved requirements set by reservoir management.  Comments on programmes and passes to Supervisor for approval.

Follows up on and evaluates the daily activities performed by contractors such as drilling, testing, wireline activities, completion, workovers and bottom hole surveys.  Monitors well operations, discusses problems with others and proposes appropriate solutions.

Reviews production and thermal Decay Tools (T.D.T.) logs, selects well to be surveyed and allocates water to specific wells and / or zones.  Includes ensuring records are kept of all powered injection wells and preparation of monthy water injection allocation report.

Directs the Preparation of acidisation programmes for well stimulations, ensuring minimum cost and maximum benefit taking into account the characteristics of each well such as flow rates, pressures, strength of acid to be used, etc.

Directs and ensures proper monitoring of down-hole corrosion.  Includes the running of corrosion logs in new workover well and the installation of corrosion coupons in key wells, liaising with Operations concerning results obtained and the use of inhibitors.

Carries out other similar or related duties such as checking down hole safety valve to ensure proper installation and functioning to prevent blow-ups, ensuring the up-dating of well completion drawings, modifying standards of methods used, preparing various reports and assisting the Senior Drilling Engineer in finalizing drilling proposal, keeping abreast of technical developments in the Petroleum Engineering Field, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.Sc. Petroleum Engineering.
  • 8 years' experience in Petroleum Engineering preferably in an Offshore Operation.
  • Shorten experience duration is acceptable, subject to manager's approval.
  • Good knowledge of computers.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
