Purpose is to be a subject matter expert and internal consultant to the Regional Engineers on all aspects of engineering relating to fixed facilities used in aviation operations. This role will help to define the competence requirement for regional engineers as well as supporting their development to meet those competencies.

Along with delivery though a team, this role is delivering engineering projects in accordance with Shell, industry and local standards. This role will act as a technical authority for more complex projects as they occur within the regions.

This role owns and maintains the Shell Aviation Engineering Manual and will commercialize engineering capability through TSA contracts.

This role represents Shell Aviation within industry standards relating to operations, including the Energy Institute, to ensure industry operational standards are aligned with Shell Aviation's advocacy objectives and to ensure both that Shell's manuals are aligned with appropriate standards and that Shell has its desired freedom to act within the industry standards. This role will coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Trading and Supply, to ensure appropriate engineering standards are applied to facilities handling Aviation fuel.

You will be part of a team of subject matter experts which together represents a technical centre of excellence. This team is formed of the functional leads for product quality, engineering, compliance and training and therefore your role will be at the centre of a technical powerhouse that underpins and drives change within SAV's aviation fuel operations.

What's the role?

Duties and responsibilities have a global scope while managing a team who deliver at a regional level.

Global
  • Own and maintain the Shell Engineering Standard
  • Act as a SME in support of the Regions for the delivery of more complex capex projects
  • Act as Design Authority as part of the assurance process for complex project sign off.
  • Supporting the Global Competence Assurance Manager, develop and implement a competence and assurance program for all engineering staff in SAV.
  • Represent Shell Aviation and SAV's interests in industry bodies such as Energy Institute and be an external face of SAV's engineering capability.
  • This role works with the TSA team to deliver engineering capability and projects for external TSA customers.
  • Track and monitor competency profiles and gaps within the regional engineering teams
  • Be responsible for the fixed facility maintenance elements of the Aviation Maintenance Manual (SAMM).
  • Work with HSSE to ensure Asset Integrity / Process Safety (AIPS) assurance program is completed.
  • Be accountable for defining and developing options to reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions in airport operation


Key competence focus areas
  • Technical: Aviation Fixed Facility Engineering, Fuel product quality management, Technical Authority TA2.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate KPI trackers for regional engineering activities.


What we need from you
  • Significant direct operational engineering experience within an operational aviation fuel handling environment.
  • Evidence of complex engineering project delivery within the aviation fuel handling environment.
  • Experience of excellence of team working and leadership, with demonstrated ability to deliver through others in a remote environment while fostering and maintaining close working relationships.
  • Be a detailed subject matter expert while maintaining the ability to set strategic direction and effectively communicate this across multiple levels of an organisation.
  • Evidence of working with industry bodies to drive for change.
